Study On The Sexual Behavioral Characteristics And Biological Indicatorsrelated To Sex Hormones In Kunming MSM Subpopulations

ObjectiveFirstly,from the epidemiological aspect,to identify the behavior characteristics of MSM subpopulations.Secondly,from the anatomical aspect,to investigate the characteristics of finger length ratio in MSM subpopulations,and to analyze effects of sex hormone of mothers at the embryonic stage(before birth)on MSM subpopulations.Lastly,from the molecular biological aspect,to determine the levels of binding and free sex hormones in MSM subpopulations at adulthood.The purpose is to investigate whether the exposure of maternal sex hormone levels at embryonic stage leads to the birth of homosexual individuals,or the abnormality of organism sex hormone levels of MSM population affects the sexual orientation of MSM population in adulthood.Method1.Questionnaire investigation was used to understand the sexual behavior characteristics of MSM subpopulations.2.Anthropometric measure was adopted to measure the 2nd to 5th finger length of both hands in the MSM and control groupfor analyzing the finger length ratio so that discuss the effects of sex hormones of mothers before birth on MSM subpopulations.3.Chemiluminescence method was performed to detect the testosterone and estradiol in the MSM and the control group in Kunming to determine thelevel of binding sex hormone in MSM subpopulations at adulthood.4.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was implemented to the concentration of sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG)in the MSM and control group to know the SHBG level in MSM subpopulations at adulthood.5.Vermeulenformula was applied to calculate the concentration of serum free testosterone(FT)in MSM subpopulations and the control group.Results1.Sexual Behavior characteristics of MSM subpopulations in Kunming(1)According to the sexual orientation:Behavior characteristicsin in the homosexual group:the younger at the first sexual behavior,higher degree of education,higher percentage of looking for sexual partners via the internet,the sexual partner at the first sexual behavior much inclined to males,more sexual partners,and higher percentage of anal sex with males within recent six months.Behavior characteristics in the bisexual group:higher percentage of marrying with females;the sexual partner at the first sexual behavior much inclined to female;more female sex partners within recent six months,and higher percentage of having sex with female.(2)According to sex role:Behavior characteristics in the No.0 group:younger at the first sexual behavior,the sexual partner at the first sexual behavior much inclined to males,higher percentage of anal sex with male within recent six months,less female sex partners,and homosexuality much inclined to serve as the role of No.0 during the process of anal sex.Behavior characteristics in the No.1 group:higher percentage of marrying with female;the sexual partner at the first sexual behavior much inclined to female,and bisexuals much inclined to serve as the roles of No.0 and No.0.5.Behavior characteristics in the No.0.5 group:higher percentage of marrying with female;the sexual partner at the first sexual behavior much inclined to female;higher percentage of having sex with females,and more female sex partners bisexuals much inclined to serve as the roles of No.0 and No.0.5.(3)According to the number of sex partners within recent six months:Behavior characteristics in the multiple sex partner group:higher percentage of having married,more female sex partners,and higher frequency of having sex with females.Behavior characteristics in the fixed sex partner group:worse conditions of using condoms during the process of anal sex.(4)According to the marital status:a.Behavior characteristics in the unmarried MSM populations:higher percentage of having sex with males within recent six months and sex partner giving priority to males.Behavior characteristics in the married MSM populations:higher percentage of having sex with females within recent six months and more female sex partners than unmarried MSM populations.Behavior characteristics in the divorced MSM populations:a larger number of sex partners and worse conditions of using condoms.2.Characteristics of finger length ratio in MSM subpopulations in KunmingCharacteristics of finger length ratio in MSM subpopulations in Kunming were as follows:2D:3D<2D:4D<3D:4D<2D:5D<4D:5D<3D:5D.The ratio of 2D:4D of right hand in MSM populations was higher than that in the control group.The ratio of 2D:4D of right hand in the homosexual were higher than that in the control group.The ratio of 2D:4D of right hand in the different sex roles were higher than that in the control group,but no differences were found among the No.0,No.1,and No.0.5 groups.The finger length was not related to the age in the control and MSM groups.3.The testosterone level of MSM subpopulations in KunmingThe concentration of serum testosterone in the MSM and control groups was within the reference range.There were no significant differences in concentration of serum testosterone between the MSM and control groups.There were no obvious changes in concentration of serum testosterone with the growth of age in the MSM and control groups.There were no correlations between concentration of serum testosterone and finger length ratio in the MSM and control groups.4.The estradiol level of MSM subpopulations in KunmingThe estradiol concentration in the MSM and control groups was within the reference range.The estradiol concentration in the MSM group was higher than that in the control group.The estradiol concentration was positively associated with the age in the control group.However,there were no correlations in estradiol concentration between MSM populations and age.There were no correlations between estradiol concentration and finger length ratioin the MSM and control groups.5.The SHBG level of MSM subpopulations in KunmingThe SHBG concentration in the MSM and control groups was within the reference range.There were no significant differences in concentration of serum SHBG between the MSM and control groups.Characteristics of SHBG concentration in different sexual orientation of MSM subpopulations in Kunming were as follows:gay>heterosexuality>bisexuality.Characteristics of SHBG concentration in different sex roles of MSM subpopulations in Kunming were as follows:No.1>heterosexuality>No.0>No.0.5.The SHBG concentration was positively associated with the age in the control group;however,there were no correlations between SHBG concentration and age in the MSM group.There were no correlations between SHBG concentration and finger length ratio in the MSM and control groups.6.The free testosterone level of MSM subpopulations in Kunming.The concentration of serum free testosterone in the MSM and control groups was within the reference range.There were no significant differences in concentration of serum free testosterone between the MSM and control groups.The serum free testosterone in bisexuality was higher than other groups.Characteristics of serum free testosterone concentration in different groups as follows:No.0.5>No.0>heterosexuality>No.1.The concentration of serum free testosterone was negatively associated with the age in the control group,however,there were no relationships between the concentration of serum free testosterone and age in the MSM group.There were no correlations between concentration of serum free testosterone and finger length ratio in the MSM and control groups.Conclusion1.The sexual behavior of MSM subpopulations has its own characteristics,and individual intervention measures should be taken according to their own characteristics.2.The concentration of serum testosterone,estradiol,SHBG,and free testosterone was within the normal reference range.3.The ratio of 2D:4D was higher in the MSM populations,but it was not correlated with age,testosterone,estradiol,SHBG,and free testosterone.Sex hormone exposure before birth may be one of the causes of sex orientation in males.4.There were associations between the age of heterosexuality and estradiol,SHBG,and free testosterone,which were not found in the MSM populations.The imbalance in the regulation of some sex hormones may be related to the formation of homosexual orientation.
