Objectives:1. Assess the reliability and validity of Chinese version of PHQ-9, GAD-7 and AUDIT in general population, and establish cut-off point of the three screen questionnaires in the community population.2. To understand the mental health status in Chinese community residents and screened positive rates of common mental disorders(depression, anxiety, alcohol abuse and suicide). Analyze the factors related to depression, anxiety, alcohol abuse and suicide.3. Carry out brief intervention and evaluate its efficacy for alcohol abuse.Methods:1. 1,115 community residents in Shanghai Xuhui Area completed the Chinese version of PHQ-9, GAD-7, AUDIT, SAS, SDS, ASSIST and the SF-36 scale, and all subjects were interviewed by MINI and made diagnosis about depression disorder, first 300 subjects were made diagnosis of anxiety or alcohol use disorder.100 people were randomly selected to finish the test PHQ-9, GAD-7 and AUDIT again two weeks later the initial test.2. A Total of 13,838 community residents from 7 provinces who were chosen by PPS(Probability Proportionate to Size Sampling)and simple random sampling completed questionnaires related to mental health. The questionnaires included PHQ-9,GAD-7,AUDIT,Mnetal Knowledge, Mental Attitude, questionnaire related mental knowledge, MINI- suicide,SRHMS,SES,SCQ and PSS-10.3. 154 participants who were screened positive by ADUIT as possible alcohol abuse were assigned to intervention group(N=82) or control group(N=72). Theintervention group received brief intervention and the control group only got related publicity material. At three months after the intervention, we assess the ASSIST, motivation and knowledge of quitting drinking in order to verify the efficacy of brief intervention for alcohol abuse.Results:1. The Chinese versions of PHQ-9, GAD-7, and AUDIT have acceptable reliability and validity in the community residents. The cut-off scores were 7 for PHQ-9, 7 for GAD-7 and 6 for AUDIT with sensitivity of 86%,88% and 57 %, specificity of 86 %, 86 % and 93 % respectively.2. Screening positive rates of depression, anxiety, alcohol abuse and suicide in community were 21.9%, 15.5%, 13.7% and 4.5% respectively. Binary Logistic Regression analysis showed that several factors were related to depression, and anxiety, and alcohol abuse.Race,marrital status,Emloyment status,location, stress level, esteem level, mental health and physical health were influential factors for depression and anxiety(OR=1.37,0.76,0.83,1.63,0.28,1.86,0.56,1.59,4.04 respectively);Gender,race,education,age,location,stress level,mental health and physical health were influential factors for alcohol abuse(OR=3.79,1.41,0.76-1.42,1.59-2.22,1.18,0.79,1.26,1.33 respectively). In China, community residents’ awareness rate of mental health knowledge was 58.38%, and attitude questionnaire related to mental illness score was 34.82±5.78.3. At 3 month after the brief intervention, the intervention group had lower scores in drinking, and higher scores in motivation, awareness the importance of quitting drinking and self efficacy for quitting drinking.Conclusions:1. The Chinese versions of PHQ-9, GAD-7 and AUDIT scale have acceptable reliability and validity, which can be used to screen the targeted problems in the community.2. The screened positive rates for depression, anxiety and alcohol abuse in community residents were high. Community residents who are in risk need to be addressed and provide needed intervention.3. Brief intervention for alcohol abuse is effective for decreasing drinking and improving motivations, self efficacy and awareness the importance of quitting drinking.
