This is an essay on the history of critical interpretation of the classic works of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).It reveals and summarizes the achievements in this field made in the past 30 years, which include: 1. a theoretical system of critical interpretation of the classic works of TCM characterizing the TCM and fitting in with its studies has been established;2. Never before has an academic enthusiam in the field appeared, and hundreds of papers which have insights into the classic works have been published;3. high-achieving experts in the field have emerged in quite a few numbers, such as Prof. Qian Chaochen, Prof, li Jinyong and Prof. Ma Jixing,whose works can represent the modern achievements in field;4. the theory and approaches to the classic works of TCM have been accepted widely. and are playing an important part in the study of TCM;5. some collated and annotated classic works of TCM have been published,which has laid a foundation of further study of TCM and started an upsurge of the study.These achievements are owed greatly to:1. stability and prosperity of the nation;2. the policy of Reform and Openning to the outside world, which has brought about enthusiastic and unrestrained academic studies;3. correct policies and support by the Ministry of Public Health and the National Administrative Bureau of TCM;4.accumulation of the past achievements in critical interpretation of the classic works of TCM;5. overall academic prosperity which makes academic fields help each other;6. more successors educated and brought up by the universities and colleges, who are further developing the study.The essay analyzes the problems found in the syudy of critical interpretation of classic works of TCM: 1. some government departments do not give adequate importance to the study in this field , and do not offer enough funds;2. the curricular reform in universities and colleges has been decreasing the classes of the subject;3. the young scholar is not high to the explanations of words in ancient books enthusiasm, which makes it difficult to progress further;4. the projects of the study are scattered and disorderly and have rarely had significant results;5.the study hasn' t integrated closely with...
