With China’s booming economy,there is a growing demand for high quality auditing and tax advisory services.The effective operation of the capital and securities markets relies on the audit reports issued by accounting firms,and the growing demand for audits has led to an increase in the number and scale of accounting firms and increasingly fierce competition in the industry.Human resources are the core competency of accounting firms,especially for firms serving small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs),whose business is characterised by "short duration,high frequency and fast pace",and the level of staff engagement determines the development of the firm to a certain extent.Therefore,the study of s employees’ work engagement in accounting firms is of great theoretical and practical importance.This paper draws on theoretical research results and practical exploration experiences on work engagement at home and abroad to conduct an in-depth research on the current situation of work engagement of employees in T accounting firm.The research finds that employees’ work engagement is generally low and varies greatly among different ages,ranks,departments and job categories,and that employees’ felt trust and self-efficacy are the main factors affecting employees’ work engagement.Then,by constructing a model of employees’ felt trust,self-efficacy and work engagement The empirical analysis was conducted using 217 questionnaires from employees of T accounting firm.It was further found that employees’ work engagement was significantly and positively related to felt trust and self-efficacy,and employees’ self-efficacy mediated the relationship between felt trust and work engagement.Based on this,the thesis concludes with suggestions for improving the work engagement of employees in T accounting firm.The contribution of this thesis is that it explores the relationship between employees’ felt trust,self-efficacy and work engagement using a sample of Chinese T accounting firm employees,enriching research related to employee work engagement in the accounting firm industry and providing theoretical references and practical suggestions for the scientific use of trust management strategies by firm leaders,as well as suggestions for staff recruitment in firms.
