Research On China’s Direct Investment In Laos

Since the beginning of the 21 st century,bilateral cooperation and traditional friendship between China and Laos have been greatly developed.The Chinese government and Laos have conducted in-depth cooperation and exchanges in politics,economy and trade,culture,education and other fields,and the bilateral relations have rapidly warmed up.In recent years,the investment of Chinese enterprises in Laos has also made great progress.The main areas of Chinese enterprises’ investment in Laos include agricultural and forestry planting,infrastructure construction,mineral development,hydropower,industrial manufacturing,etc.The economic and trade relations and investment cooperation between the two sides have made important achievements.At present,China has become the main source of foreign investment in Laos,and the overall scale is still growing.However,there are still many factors restricting China’s direct investment in Laos.The Lao government needs to make rational use of the funds of Chinese enterprises to promote the economic development of Laos.As an overseas student from Laos to China,the author of this paper studies the issue of China’s direct investment in Laos and provides some useful policy suggestions for the academic field and even the government departments,which has obvious practical significance.Firstly,according to the current situation of China Laos economic and trade and investment development,the paper introduces the development background and significance of China’s direct investment in Laos,puts forward the research content and methods of this paper,combs the relevant research literature,expounds the research status at home and abroad,and summarizes the innovation and shortcomings of the research.Secondly,it elaborates comparative advantage investment theory,international production compromise theory,small-scale technology theory and technology localization theory.Third,analyze the development process of China’s direct investment in Laos,the scale characteristics of China’s direct investment in Laos,the industry characteristics of China’s direct investment in Laos,and the location characteristics of China’s direct investment in Laos.Fourth,analyze the problems of China’s direct investment in Laos,mainly including: China’s direct investment in Laos is too concentrated,the scale of investment is small,the distribution of investment regions and industries is unreasonable,direct investment products and technology problems,and the negative impact of direct investment in Laos.Fifth,analyze the factors restricting China’s direct investment in Laos from the aspects of policy,law,economy,social culture,etc.Sixth,put forward strategies to promote China’s direct investment in Laos,mainly including: strengthening the services of the Lao government,creating a good social development atmosphere,strengthening the construction of relevant laws and policies,deepening the economic cooperation between Laos and China,and reasonably selecting investment cooperation methods.Finally,the full text is summarized and analyzed.
