| Since the concept of urban-rural integration and development was put forward at the 19 th CPC National Congress in 2017,"focusing on promoting urban-rural integration and regional coordinated development" was mentioned again at the 20 th CPC National Congress in 2022,which indicates that the Party Central Committee attaches importance to the integrated development of urban and rural areas.At the same time,with the development of the digital economy,the wide application of Internet information technology in China has produced many significant impacts in various fields of economy and society.The wide application of emerging information and communication technologies represented by the digital economy can exert comprehensive impact on the urban and rural economy and social relations based on multiple dimensions.Therefore,on the basis of understanding the current situation of China’s digital economy and urban-rural integration,it is particularly important to explore how to use the development of digital economy to promote the process of urban-rural integration in China better.Firstly,this paper systematically combs domestic and foreign literature,expounds the concept and relevant theories of digital economy and urban-rural integration,and combs out the theoretical mechanism of the impact of digital economy on urban-rural integration.Taking 30 provinces in China(excluding Tibet Autonomous Region,Taiwan Province,Hong Kong and Macao)as the research object,this paper collected various indicator data from 2011 to 2020,describes and analyzes the development of China’s digital economy,and constructs the digital economy indicator system,and calculates the digital economy level index of each province and city using the entropy weight TOPSIS method.Then this paper builds the urban-rural integration indicator system and calculates the comprehensive index,and analyzes the differences and dynamic evolution trend of urban-rural integration in China’s provinces according to the results.Then the paper uses benchmark regression,threshold model and spatial econometric model to conduct empirical analysis,and there are some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward on the empirical results.By research,the main conclusions of this paper are given below:(1)During the period 2011-2020,the development level of digital economy in all provinces of China was enhanced,but there was a large difference in the digital economy level among regions.The eastern region was significantly higher than other regions,and the differences between the central region,the western region and the northeast region in recent years were also gradually widened.(2)The level of urban-rural integration in China has also been steadily improved.In the process of dynamic evolution,it is difficult to transition from a lowest level to a lower level,and there is also a risk of degradation from a highest level to a higher level.(3)The digital economy has a significant role in promoting the development of urban-rural integration,and it will be phased differences under the role of threshold variables,which is characterized by increasing marginal benefits.However,based on the perspective of regional correlation,the development of digital economy will have a negative spatial spillover effect on neighboring regions.(4)The degree of government intervention,the industrial structure and the level of transportation infrastructure will promote the development of urbanrural integration. |
