| The manufacturing industry is not only an important foundation for realizing the modernization of the country,supporting the stable and healthy development of the national economy but also the material basis for realizing the people’s yearning for a better life.As an important engine of economic growth in the 21 st century,innovation is an important source of healthy development of the manufacturing industry.However,innovation is a complex process involving multiple subjects,and each innovation subject has different characteristics in terms of functional positioning and output capabilities for different innovation resources.Therefore,how to give full play to the innovation advantages of each innovation subject? To what extent is the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry affected by the innovation efficiency of each innovation subject? The solution to the above problems is of great significance to the improvement of the total factor productivity of the innovation-driven manufacturing industry.Based on the analysis of the impact path of innovation efficiency on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,this paper uses the panel data of 30 provinces,municipalities,and autonomous regions in China from 2009 to 2020 to analyze the innovation efficiency of each innovation subject and my country’s manufacturing industry during this period.The total factor productivity was measured.Based on analyzing the innovation efficiency of each innovation subject and the status quo of manufacturing TFP,by constructing a panel regression model,using the panel fixed effect method to empirically study the impact of innovation efficiency of innovation subjects on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and further study Regional heterogeneity;the method of panel quantile regression was used to examine the heterogeneity of manufacturing total factor productivity.The robustness test is carried out by replacing the calculation method of the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry and lagging the innovation efficiency for one period.The research results show that:(1)During the period from 2009 to 2020,the average innovation efficiency of each innovation subject in my country has generally increased year by year,but there are significant differences in efficiency among innovation subjects.(2)The total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry in all provinces of China has achieved positive growth during the sample period,and its source is mainly the technological progress of the manufacturing industry.(3)The innovation efficiency of each innovation subject can significantly promote the improvement of the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and the impact effect is more obvious after the innovation efficiency lags for one period.As the main body of technological innovation,the innovation efficiency of enterprises has the strongest effect on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,followed by scientific research institutions as the main body of knowledge innovation,while universities are at a disadvantage in terms of innovation efficiency promoting industrial production efficiency.(4)The impact of the innovation efficiency of each innovation subject on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry has regional heterogeneity,and the promotion effect of the innovation efficiency of each innovation subject on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry also increases gradually with the level of total factor productivity and enhanced.Based on the research conclusions of this paper,the following policy suggestions are put forward: as the core subject in the regional innovation system,enterprises need to continuously improve their innovation performance;as an important subject of knowledge creation in the regional innovation system,universities must continuously strengthen school-enterprise cooperation and promote industrial innovation.The integration of teaching and learning,and the establishment of a sound talent training system;scientific research institutions should give full play to their role in the strategic guidance and comprehensive coordination of science and technology. |
