The Research On Quality Evaluation Of ESG Information Disclosure Of Listed Companies

With the concept of green and high-quality development proposed,China has accelerated the deployment of low-carbon circular economy system,promoted the process of high-quality development,and promoted the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.ESG,a new concept,has gradually entered the public’s field of vision.Under the background of "double carbon",ESG investment index,funds,loans and other businesses have been launched one after another,and ESG system has gradually become a new model for market research and long-term operation and management of enterprises.As the cornerstone of ESG system construction,ESG information disclosure is the most basic element to evaluate ESG performance of enterprises,which has been deeply concerned by academics.However,at present,there are still some problems in the construction of ESG information disclosure in China’s listed companies,such as low coverage and low standardization of ESG information disclosure,and most of the research only focuses on the discussion on the impact on the quality of ESG information disclosure,ignoring the design of ESG information disclosure itself,which makes it difficult to effectively evaluate the quality of ESG information disclosure in listed companies.Based on the existing ESG report,this paper discusses how to construct the content framework of ESG information disclosure,help evaluate the quality level of ESG information disclosure of listed companies,and promote the development of ESG information disclosure in China to a high level and high quality.The research contents are as follows:Firstly,the content framework of ESG information disclosure of listed companies is constructed from the importance of information disclosure,and the content of ESG report is divided into the target layer that needs mandatory disclosure and the topic layer that focuses on voluntary disclosure,and the disclosure topics of each part are formulated and the final ESG information disclosure content indicators are screened out by experts.Secondly,on the basis of different industry characteristics,all industries are divided into three categories:manufacturing and its upstream and downstream related industries,information technology,entertainment and other service industries and financial industry,and the disclosure scope of ESG information disclosure content indicators in different industries is subdivided to accurately reflect the ESG performance of enterprises in various industries.Referring to the ESG information disclosure content framework,this paper starts with the ESG information disclosure content and disclosure behavior of listed companies,evaluates the quality of ESG information disclosure by using content analysis method and index weighting method,and selects listed companies in power,heat,gas and water production and supply industries for case analysis.The results show that the quality level of ESG information disclosure in this industry is good as a whole,which basically meets the ESG information disclosure content framework standards of manufacturing industry and its related upstream and downstream industries and reaches an excellent level,and has a good performance in the integrity,comparability and understand-ability of the topic layer.However,only a few enterprises have made a complete description of the mandatory ESG disclosure information at the target layer,and there are still big problems in the reliability and balance of data,which need to be further improved.Finally,this paper puts forward new requirements for ESG information disclosure in case industry under the background of production chain integration,and enhances the use value of ESG reports.
