| The rapid rise of the gig economy has led to the vigorous development of the new occupational group of delivery riders.At the same time,service sabotage about delivery riders has frequently occupied the hot top,causing heated discussions among the public.Service sabotage of delivery riders will not only bring great negative impact to society,but also threaten the reputation of delivery platform,which is not conducive to their survival and development,and bring certain challenges to the management of delivery platform.Therefore,how to effectively manage delivery riders has also become the primary issue that delivery platform need to solve urgently,and it is still worthy of attention from the theoretical and practical circles.Existing research demonstrates that the nature of job,as an important context factor,has an important impact on the service sabotage.the job nature of the delivery rider’s makes them play an important role in urban life,which provides them a natural advantage to generate the perceived prosocial impact.Some scholars believe that perceived prosocial impact will provide a moral defense for individuals.From this point of view,perceived prosocial impact may make delivery riders have a sense of right to engage in service sabotage.By making clear the relationship between perceived prosocial impact and service sabotage,it is helpful for the delivery platform to take measures to prevent the service sabotage,and then promote the long-term development of delivery platform.Therefore,it is necessary to deeply clarify the effect of delivery riders’ perceived prosocial impact on service sabotage.Based on the moral licensing theory,this study explores the negative of delivery riders’ perceived prosocial impact on service sabotage.Specifically,psychological entitlement selected as the mediator variable between perceived prosocial impact and service sabotage.At the same time,form the perspective of Chinese traditional cultural context,this study also explores the moderating effect of the traditionality on the relationship between perceived prosocial impact and service sabotage.To make the theoretical derivation more convincing,this study empirically tests the constructed theoretical model.Specifically,this study adopted the three-time data collection method,obtained a total of 179 valid data through online questionnaires,and analyzed the data using statistical software such as SPSS and Mplus,and obtained the following research conclusions:(1)delivery riders’ perceived prosocial impact will cause them to engage in service sabotage by breeding a high level of psychological entitlement,in other words,psychological entitlement plays a mediating role between perceived prosocial impact and service sabotage;(2)traditionality positively moderates the positive effect of perceived prosocial impact on psychological entitlement;(3)traditionality positively moderates the mediating role of psychological entitlement.The theoretical implications of this study are as follows.Firstly,this study enriches the research on the negative consequences of perceived prosocial impact,which is beneficial for a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the role of perceived prosocial impact.Secondly,this study provides a better analysis of the underlying mechanisms of perceived prosocial impact on service sabotage,providing a more comprehensive explanatory framework for the formation mechanism for the service sabotage,and expands the theoretical basis of service sabotage.Additionally,this study effectively reveals the boundary conditions of the effect of perceived prosocial impact,which helps to more comprehensively why some delivery riders engage in more service sabotage.Finally,this study enriches the empirical research on delivery riders and contributes to deeper understanding of the emerging professional group of delivery riders.This study can also provide certain guidance for the management practice of delivery platform.Firstly,delivery platform need to be cautious,comprehensive,and dialectical to consider the role of perceived prosocial impact.Specifically,in the process of stimulating the positive psychological resources of perceived prosocial impact,it is even more important to actively guide delivery riders to establish correct work concepts,values and morals,avoiding the breeding of high level psychological entitlement and subsequently engaging in service sabotage.Secondly,delivery platform need to pay close attention to the psychological state of delivery riders.Specifically,delivery platform should regularly monitor the level of psychological entitlement of delivery riders,and timely provide the psychological guidance to high-level psychological entitlement to make them straighten out their work attitude and reduce the probability of engaging in service sabotage.Finally,delivery platform need to implement differentiated management.Specifically,delivery platform need to give different management schemes and management measures to delivery riders of different traditionality levels. |
