Analysis Of Influencing Factors And Potential Of China’s Rice Exports

Rice is the largest variety of food rations in China and plays an extremely important role in food security.China has always attached importance to ensuring food security and put forward the requirement of "absolute self-sufficiency in food rations".Under this requirement,China’s rice self-sufficiency rate has been maintained at more than 100% all year round,which is conducive to ensuring China’s food security,but it also causes the problem of low efficiency in the use of water and land resources.Measuring the trade potential of China’s rice exports and analyzing the influencing factors of China’s rice exports are of great practical significance for making better use of the international market to export China’s relatively surplus rice and enhance the competitiveness of rice.The main research content of this paper is: under the premise of ensuring the self-sufficiency rate of rice and maintaining high rice production,this paper first takes the current overall import and export situation of rice as the starting point,compares the existing rice research,and describes the current situation of rice export market at home and abroad.Secondly,taking China’s rice export trade volume as the research object,analyzing its trade level and trade influencing factors is conducive to deepening the knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of China’s rice export,and at the same time promoting the competitiveness of China’s rice export market.Thirdly,using the extended trade gravity model,according to the basic principle that trade flows are proportional to the scale of the relevant economy and inversely proportional to the spatial distance between the two countries,China’s gross domestic product,China’s total rice production,bilateral trade distance,the total population of the importing country,the dependence on foreign trade and whether to sign a trade agreement are included in the model,first the overall rice export status is studied,and then the rice is divided into two types,polished rice and non-polished rice,for empirical analysis,and finally the trade potential calculation method is used.The actual export value is compared with the theoretical value,and the trading countries are classified and summarized according to the ratio results and their distribution.The analysis results show that the overall export countries of rice in China are widely distributed,but the export concentration is also very high;For polished rice and non-polished rice products,there is no potential to open up countries or regions.Based on the above conclusions,the countermeasures and suggestions to improve the competitiveness of China’s rice exports are proposed: implement differentiation strategies and increase export diversification;Accelerate infrastructure development and expand the European market;Focus on countries with rapid population growth and tap the potential of African markets;Docking with international testing standards and breaking green trade barriers.
