Our society is a typical "human" society, enterprises in daily operations also pay special attention to build a good social network relationship. However,as a geolinked social network, the long-distance chamber of commerce can adapt to the characteristics of our society and the needs of enterprise development, and can well play the organization purpose of "risk sharing and benefit sharing",which can help member enterprises reduce information transaction costs and realize resource sharing.Generally speaking, enterprises join the chamber of commerce in other places in order to break the barriers of development in other places, expand the social network, and obtain a large number of resources needed for business operation.Innovation is one of the most important resource-consuming behaviors, and the input and output of innovation directly affect the core competitiveness of enterprises. Then, can enterprises participate in the chamber of commerce in different places promote enterprise innovation? If so,what is the mechanism?Based on the above background, this paper reviews the relevant literature, proposes the research hypothesis on the basis of theoretical analysis, and conducts an empirical study.First of all, this paper selects the data of China’s A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2021,takes the dummy variable of whether the enterprise participates in the construction of the non-local chamber of Commerce as the independent variable, and takes the R&D expenditure and the number of patent applications of the enterprise as the dependent variable, and conducts the panel data regression analysis.Secondly, empirical studies such as heterogeneity test, endogeneity test and robustness test were conducted to ensure the reliability of the results. Finally, this paper draws three main conclusions: first, enterprises participating in the chamber of commerce in other places can promote enterprise innovation;Second, enterprises participating in the chamber of commerce in different places can promote the innovation of enterprises by easing the degree of financing constraints and improving the level of human capital.Thirdly, enterprises’ participation in the chamber of commerce in other places can promote the innovation of enterprises, which is more significant in the private enterprises and the enterprises located in the traditional business culture area.Based on the empirical results, this paper puts forward specific suggestions from the perspectives of enterprises and the government, arguing that enterprises should take the initiative to participate in the remote chamber of commerce, while the government should conduct appropriate guidance and supervision,so as to better play the role of the remote chamber of commerce in promoting enterprise innovation.
