Research On The Relationship Between Digital Economy And Common Prosperity

As we embark on a new journey to build a modern socialist country,the Party Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping have repeatedly reiterated the proposition of“common prosperity",while the digital economy is flourishing.From the point of view of time,the process of China’s accomplishing the goal of common prosperity at a higher level and at a higher level just coincides with the era of digital economy.In this paper,in order to study the impact of the level of development of digital economy on common prosperity in China,the scope of common prosperity is defined,the connotation and characteristics of common prosperity are explored,and on the basis of summarizing and drawing on previous scholars’ research on common prosperity,the common prosperity measurement index is set,and the relevant data from CHFS and the National Bureau of Statistics are used to measure the common prosperity index in 2011,2013,2015,2017,and 2019.The common prosperity index was measured in 29 provinces,cities and autonomous regions in five years of 2011,2013,2015,2017 and 2019,and the common prosperity index was analyzed by quantitative data.The index system of digital economy development level is established and quantified from three aspects of digital economy:digital foundation,application capability and development capability,which lays the foundation for the subsequent research.The theoretical mechanism of the digital economy influencing common prosperity is discussed,and the growth effect,sharing effect and heterogeneity of the digital economy promoting common prosperity are theoretically discussed,laying the foundation and providing ideas for the empirical analysis to be conducted later.Through the analysis of common prosperity index,this paper finds that the common prosperity index of 29 regions in China has shown an increasing trend in recent years,and through the spatial auto-correlation analysis,it is found that the common prosperity level of 29 regions in China has uneven development level and regional unevenness,which is manifested by the mutual proximity of regions with high common prosperity level and the mutual proximity of regions with lower common prosperity level.Through the analysis of digital economy development level,we found that in recent years,the digital economy development level in China has shown a rising trend year by year,but with the growth of the year the gap between provinces and cities is becoming bigger,the digital economy distribution shows a trend of southeast coast is higher than inland,and Sichuan province is more prominent among the inland provinces,on the whole,the digital economy development level in China does not exist spatial correlation,and there is a digital economy development There is a phenomenon of uneven level of digital economy development.The mechanism of digital economy development on common prosperity is explored by establishing a panel regression model and a mediating effect model.The empirical results show that(1)digital economy development has a significant positive effect on common prosperity,and the results are consistent with the baseline estimation after two-stage regression by instrumental variables.(2)The mediating effect results indicate that the level of digital economy development promotes economic growth(GDP per capital growth)and then contributes to common prosperity.(3)The development of the digital economy contributes to the reduction of the urban-rural gap,indicating that the sharing effect of the digital economy is significant.The results of the GWR model show that there is spatial heterogeneity in the level of digital economy development in promoting shared prosperity at the provincial level,with Shaanxi,Gansu,Ningxia,Qinghai(Northwest of China)being more effective and Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei(eastern China)having a relatively limited effect.At the same time the effect of an economy on promoting shared prosperity is more pronounced in the early stage of digital economy development(the period when the level of digital economy development is relatively low).
