At present, the world economy is characterized by globalization and diversification, which can be summarized as follows: First, the vigorous development of regional trade agreements signed with regional countries as the main body is not only reflected in the sharp increase in the number of agreements signed, but also in the deepening of the breadth and depth of the agreement content, and the impact of the agreement signing is effective globally.2、The pattern of international division of labor has undergone significant changes.Under the division of labor led by multinational companies, the value chain centered on "global production and global sales" has evolved into the main way for countries to participate in global trade.Against this backdrop,in order to reduce economic uncertainty, gain more respect and voice among economies, interregional cooperation based on free trade agreements has shown a growth trend, which has a greater impact on countries’ participation in global value chains. The article selected a total of 16 countries including India and RCEP as the main research objects, with a time span of 2000-2018.Combining the two key issues of regional free trade agreements and global value chains, the study is divided into six chapters to conduct in-depth analysis of the impact mechanism of the number and depth of trade agreements on the participation of economies in the Asia Pacific region in the global value chain. The introduction describes the background, significance, main content and framework, research methods, innovations, and shortcomings of the topic. It also collates and reviews relevant literature from aspects such as global and regional value chains, research on the effects of trade agreement depth, and measurement,as well as the development of the Asia Pacific Trade Agreement and the Asia Pacific Value Chain,to determine the main research direction of the paper. The first chapter mainly elaborates the basic situation of Asia Pacific economic integration. The second chapter analyzes the mechanism of the impact of deep upgrading of regional trade agreements on the value chain.Analyze the impact mechanism from traditional theories, enhancing cooperation willingness, reducing risks, reducing costs, and promoting investment. The third chapter uses the longitudinal measurement method to construct the depth indicators and depth legal indicators of regional trade agreements. The indicators are divided into WTO+indicators,WTO-X indicators, total depth indicators, core depth indicators, border depth indicators, and post border depth indicators, and are standardized.Chapter 4 constructs regional value chain participation indicators and measures them.Chapter 5 uses a fixed effect model to empirically analyze the impact of the depth of Asia Pacific regional trade agreements on regional value chain participation, and conducts endogenous, robust, and heterogeneous tests. The research results show that the number and depth of trade agreements in the Asia Pacific region have a significant promoting effect on regional value chain participation, and the impact of the total depth indicator on value chain participation is higher than the total depth legal indicator. It is found that traditional regional integration measures have a stronger promoting effect on improving value chain participation. The sixth chapter puts forward relevant policy recommendations based on the research conclusions, mainly including the following aspects: First, broaden the content and depth of the terms signed;Second, promote the extension of trade agreement provisions to deeper and newer fields;Third, gradually build a higher level and broader free trade area in the Asia Pacific region;Fourth, improve the degree of opening up,focus on regional cooperation, and enhance the right to speak to the outside world.
