| In recent years,with the acceleration of China’s modernization process,the promotion of rapid economic and social development has also brought about serious climate,environmental and high carbon emission problems.How to reduce carbon emissions while also ensuring sustained and stable economic growth and promoting the development of a low-carbon economy in China is an issue that requires the common attention of society.The proposal of carbon peak and carbon neutral targets has pointed out the direction for the development of low carbon economy in China,and has also placed new expectations on science and technology innovation."During the 14 th Five-Year Plan period,which is the key period to achieve the carbon peak target,science and technology innovation,as the main driving force to coordinate the contradiction between economic development and resources and environment,occupies an important position in China’s low-carbon economic development policy.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of science and technology innovation on low-carbon economy in China,so as to deploy science and technology innovation plans in advance,promote the development of low-carbon economy in various regions,and successfully achieve the goal of China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality.This paper firstly,by reviewing relevant literature at home and abroad,we have unified and described the concepts of science and technology innovation and low carbon economy,related theories,evaluation methods and current research results,and also considered the influence of other factors on the development of low carbon economy,so as to select suitable control variables for the construction of the subsequent empirical analysis part of the econometric model.Secondly,we clarify the concepts and theories related to science and technology innovation and low carbon economy,and analyze the influence mechanism of science and technology innovation on the development of low carbon economy from the perspective of economics.Then,this paper combines the data about the level of science and technology innovation and low-carbon economy development of 30 provinces in China from 2007 to 2020,and evaluates the level of science and technology innovation and low-carbon economy in each region of China in each year using the entropy value method to measure and analyze the current situation,and analyze the national development status and the strengths and weaknesses of different regions.In the next section,a model is built and indicators are selected for empirical analysis,using urbanization level,population,industrialization level and openness to the outside world as control variables to analyze the impact of science and technology innovation on low carbon economic development at the national level,and regional heterogeneity analysis is conducted at the eastern,central and western levels.The results show that at the national level,science and technology innovation has a significant positive effect on the low-carbon economy;from the perspective of each region,the eastern region mainly promotes the development of low-carbon economy through the number of patents granted as the output index of science and technology innovation at this stage,while factors such as the degree of industrialization and population also have significant effects on the development of the low-carbon economy in this region;the central and western regions can also play a positive and significant role in the low-carbon economy through science and technology innovation.Central and western regions also play a positive and significant role in the low carbon economy,with slight differences in the degree of promotion.Finally,based on the results of the previous analysis,this paper tries to put forward some policy suggestions,hoping to promote and facilitate the development of low carbon economy in China and other regions. |
