| With the proposal of the national innovation-driven development strategy,the Chinese government attaches increasing importance to innovation.However,the problem of insufficient innovation ability of Chinese enterprises is still prominent,the concentration degree of patents is high,and the patent quality is relatively low compared with the United States,Japan and other developed economies.In this context,open innovation can effectively solve the problem of information asymmetry,and its development and reform will continue to contribute to the economic development.This paper tries to explain the dilemma between openness and innovation through the theory of "the paradox of openness".Through the elaboration of the theory of“economics of scope”,the conclusion is drawn that open innovation may be more efficient for enterprises in industries with scope economy.Then,this paper constructs the open innovation model with the participation of enterprises,competitors and users,and draws the conclusion that enterprises should choose open innovation if the innovation performance is simply represented by enterprise profits.The empirical results show that open cooperation with other enterprises,open cooperation with universities and other research institutions,and open cooperation with investors and users all have a significant positive impact on the open innovation performance of enterprises.The results of the extended discussion show that enterprises are more suitable for open innovation in the high-tech manufacturing industry with scope economy.Based on the conclusions of extended empirical study,this paper chooses Yunnan Baiyao Group,Midea Group and BOE Technology Group Co.,Ltd.as three typical enterprises for case study.The results show that the development of the Internet era has a significant impact on enterprises’ choice to carry out open innovation activities,and enterprises’ digital transformation needs complement enterprises’ open innovation activities.At the same time,achievement sharing and risk sharing have become a major theme of open innovation.In addition,enterprises in different industries lay slightly different emphasis on the level of open cooperation based on their own characteristics when conducting open innovation activities,thus affecting their overall open innovation performance.Based on the research conclusions,this paper puts forward that from the enterprise perspective,enterprises should fully pay attention to all dimensions of open innovation.From the policy perspective,the open innovation activities of enterprises cannot be separated from the policy support of the government.From the institutional perspective,sound property right protection system is very important. |
