The problem of poverty has always accompanied economic and social development. With China’s great victory in eradicating poverty and getting rid of absolute poverty once and for all,the focus of attention on poverty in China has changed from solving absolute poverty to alleviating relative poverty, reducing the development gap and thus achieving common prosperity.Under the new situation,to comprehensively promote rural revitalization,it is necessary to enhance the endogenous development momentum of the areas and people who have escaped poverty. At the same time, rural China is a human society, and the close social network formed by rural families in the process of liaison and interaction,as well as the corresponding convenient resources and information, and other social capital as an informal institution at the social level are considered to be important factors in poverty eradication, and are precisely the important resources available and at the disposal of rural families. Therefore, the study of social capital is of great significance to the alleviation of poverty among rural households.By systematically combing and studying the existing literature at home and abroad, this research paper analyses and investigates the impact of rural households’ social capital on multidimensional poverty based on the 2018 China Household Tracking Survey(CFPS)questionnaire data.Firstly,by combining existing research results,we construct a multi-dimensional poverty index system of rural households in terms of income, health, healthcare, education, quality of life, employment and information dimensions, and use the A-F method to identify and measure multidimensional poverty of rural households,so as to comprehensively analyze the poverty situation of rural households in China;secondly,we use the entropy value method to calculate the comprehensive index of social capital of rural households, and by using OLS regression to investigate the impact of social capital on At the same time,on the basis of the previous analysis of the mechanism of social capital’s role in promoting access to information and farming entrepreneurship in transmitting multidimensional poverty to farming households, the mediating role of access to information and farming entrepreneurship in the impact of social capital on multidimensional poverty of farming households is tested empirically. Finally,on the basis of the empirical analysis, the following conclusions are drawn: firstly, multidimensional poverty exists in rural households;secondly, social capital has a significant effect on poverty reduction. The social capital composite index and its three dimensions all have a significant negative effect on multidimensional household poverty;and thirdly,Access to information and farm entrepreneurship have a mediating effect in the relationship between social capital and multidimensional poverty. The test demonstrates that social capital for rural households can have an impact on poverty reduction by significantly promoting the mechanisms of information access and farmer entrepreneurship. The findings of the study are important for alleviating multidimensional poverty among rural households in China, enhancing their endogenous development dynamics, enjoying the fruits of high-quality economic and social development, and solidly promoting common prosperity. In response to the above research findings, this dissertation puts forward the following feasible policy recommendations for rural households to reduce poverty: firstly,to enhance the level of multidimensional welfare of rural households;secondly,to actively cultivate social capital;and thirdly,to effectively improve the transmission mechanism for poverty alleviation.
