to guide enterprises to improve the quality of innovation.High-quality innovation results can not only help enterprises to obtain more profits and improve enterprise value,but also enhance enterprise competitiveness and obtain sustainable competitive advantage.As the implementation subject and key resource of the innovation-driven strategy,talents play an important role in the innovation process.For enterprise innovation,in addition to the R&D and technical personnel who directly participate in the innovation activities,the role of senior executives can not be ignored.As the makers and executors of enterprise strategy,their past career experience can affect their innovation willingness,ability and cognition,and further affect their innovation choices.At present,research has focused on the impact of senior managements’ professional experience on enterprise innovation,but key issues such as what kind of professional experience is conducive to improving the quality of enterprise innovation,and how senior managements’ professional experience affects the quality of enterprise innovation have not been solved.Complex professional experience of senior management is a diversified work experience.Working experience in different enterprises,industries,positions,organizations and regions,rich career experience will have different degrees of impact on executive behavior style,risk preference,decision-making,etc.,and then affect enterprise innovation.The overall level of innovation of an enterprise depends not only on whether senior executives can make appropriate innovation decisions,but also on the speed of making such decisions and the speed of subsequent actions.In the case of continuous turbulence in the external environment,without the support of relevant capabilities,it is difficult to rapidly transform enterprise resources into innovative products to meet market demand.Enterprises need to build appropriate dynamic capabilities to quickly respond to the external environment,seize and allocate resources to successfully carry out innovation activities.The diversified career experience can accumulate rich human capital and social capital for senior executives,improve management awareness,and thus help improve the dynamic capabilities of enterprises.Although the existing research has paid attention to the impact of complex professional experience on enterprise innovation,it has not paid attention to its role in the quality of enterprise innovation,and has not explored the role of dynamic capabilities in it.Based on the upper echelons theory,branding theory and dynamic capability theory,taking the quality of innovation as the dependent variable and the complex professional experience of senior managements as the independent variable,this paper discusses the impact of the complex professional experience of senior managements on the quality of enterprise innovation,and studies the intermediary role of dynamic capability in it.At the same time,it also considers the regulatory role of the situational variables of analysts’ attention and management autonomy in it,It clarifies the boundary conditions of the complex professional experience of senior managements on the quality of enterprise innovation.Based on the empirical analysis of Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2015 to 2020,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The complex professional experience of senior management has a significant positive impact on the quality of enterprise innovation.The higher the degree of diversification of senior executives’ career experience,the more high-quality innovation results the enterprise can produce;(2)The three dimensions of dynamic ability: adaptability,absorptive ability and innovation ability all play a part of intermediary role between the complex professional experience of senior management and the quality of enterprise innovation,and the intermediary effect of absorptive ability is the strongest.The complex professional experience of senior managements can improve the quality of enterprise innovation by improving the dynamic ability of enterprises;(3)Analysts’ attention can positively adjust the relationship between the complex professional experience of senior managements and the quality of enterprise innovation,that is,the more attention an enterprise receives from external analysts,the stronger the positive effect of the complex professional experience of senior managements on the quality of enterprise innovation.(4)Management autonomy can positively adjust the relationship between complex professional experience of senior managements and enterprise innovation quality,that is,the greater the power given to executives,the stronger the positive effect of their complex professional experience on enterprise innovation quality.The innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)Pay attention to the actual innovation effect,explore the influencing factors of the innovation quality from the perspective of the complex professional experience of senior management,and break through the limitations of the current lack of research on the enterprise innovation quality from the perspective of upper echelons theory;(2)Clear up the concept and category of complex professional experience of senior managements,comprehensively consider the effect of various experiences in senior executives’ career on the quality of enterprise innovation,and break through the limitation of current research on the diversified career experience of senior executives;(3)From a new perspective of combining static and dynamic,this paper constructs a systematic model of the impact mechanism of complex professional experience of senior managements on the quality of enterprise innovation. |
