Today,the development of the Internet has penetrated into every aspect of people’s lives,and our habits have been changed to varying degrees by the Internet,most notably in the area of shopping.The boom in online shopping has led to the rapid rise of a large number of e-commerce companies,and with so many companies joining the fray,the field of e-commerce has long ceased to be a blue ocean,and a suitable profit model must be found to sustain the business.This paper will analyse the current profitability model of Pinduoduo through literature research and case study method,selecting Pinduoduo as a representative e-commerce company,based on theories related to profitability model and financial and non-financial evaluation studies,further analyzing the profitability model of Pinduoduo through the components of its profitability model and comparing the profitability model of Pinduoduo with that of Alibaba and Jingdong,and then analyzing the profitability model of Pinduoduo in terms of solvency,operating capacity,profitability,growth and profitability,The financial analysis was conducted in terms of solvency,operating capacity,profitability and growth capacity,as well as non-financial evaluation in terms of innovation capacity,sustainable efficiency and matchability,and concluded that the strengths of Pinduoduo are:accurate positioning,grasping the down market;focusing on the sale of agricultural products;capturing the down market share and being able to identify consumers’ "pain points";and High profit returns at a low cost;good social attributes and a strong talent pool.Weaknesses include:a gradually unstable profit target and insufficient consumer power;a single profit channel with low revenue growth potential;a point of profit that is no longer secure and in need of innovation;a profit lever that is over-marketed and affects the corporate image;a lack of a profit barrier and a lack of a logistics system that is important for e-commerce companies and needs to further build an infrastructure service system.In addition,the company also proposes five elements of its profitability model,in light of the weaknesses and strengths of its profitability model:in terms of profitability targets,further segmentation of the market and fight for upstream high-end users;in terms of profitability channels,expansion of overseas markets and development of new businesses;in terms of profitability points,promotion of offline sales of agricultural products,creation of different levels of purchasing platforms and development of live e-commerce;in terms of profitability In terms of profit leverage,innovate the application of service stations and maintain a positive corporate image;in terms of profit barriers,vigorously develop the sale of agricultural products,establish a logistics system and increase investment in research and development.It is hoped that the research in this paper will provide some help to the development of Pinduoduo.
