The State Council released the Guiding Opinions on Deepening the "Internet + Advanced Manufacturing" and Developing the Industrial Internet in 2017,which aims to promote the development of advanced manufacturing industries and facilitate the deep integration of new information technology and advanced manufacturing technology to achieve a major transformation of production tools and production methods in order to adapt to the new round of technological revolution and the challenges brought about by industrial changes. At present,China is a global leader in manufacturing output and product production, but advanced manufacturing industries in various countries are facing new challenges. In response, many major industrialised countries have introduced strategies to "reinvigorate advanced manufacturing",with smart manufacturing as a key means of revitalising advanced manufacturing.China has also launched policies to achieve a deeper integration of new industrial technologies and advanced manufacturing technologies, and to promote a qualitative transformation of advanced manufacturing enterprises in terms of production tools and production methods.Against this backdrop, this study focuses on the international competitiveness of China’s advanced manufacturing industry in the context of new generation information technology, with a particular emphasis on the development of the industrial Internet.Using relevant data from2013-2021 as a sample, this paper examines the impact of industrial Internet development on the international competitiveness of China’s advanced manufacturing industry.Specifically, this study evaluates the current level of industrial Internet development and the international competitiveness of China’s advanced manufacturing industry, constructs indexes for measuring their development levels, proposes hypotheses based on the mechanism of the influence of industrial Internet development on international competitiveness, and develops a diamond model to empirically explore this relationship.Additionally, control variables such as international direct investment, financial development, government support, and gross national income are considered. Finally, targeted recommendations are provided. This paper explores the logical relationship between the level of development of the Industrial Internet and the international competitiveness of advanced manufacturing industries at the level of theoretical derivation and empirical test respectively, and the main findings are as follows: Firstly, the theoretical analysis shows that the Industrial Internet has both direct and indirect promotion effects on the international competitiveness of advanced manufacturing industries, where the direct effect is reflected in the enhancement of the comprehensive competitive ability of advanced manufacturing enterprises, while the indirect effect is mainly The indirect effect is mainly realized through the crowding-in effect and technology spillover effect. This paper explores how various factors contribute to the increased competitiveness of China’s advanced manufacturing industry on the global stage. It highlights the advantages and potential for growth in this sector, along with ways in which foreign investment, government support, and financial development can further enhance its development.Additionally, the paper examines the intersection between the industrial internet and advanced manufacturing industry in terms of their international competitiveness, which enriches the relevant research fields and provides useful references for the high-quality development of China’s industrial internet and advanced manufacturing industry as well as relevant policy formulation.
