As an important transportation hub, port is a powerful support to promote regional economic development. However,as China’s economy changes from high-speed growth stage to high-quality development stage, the port industry has encountered problems such as slowing down demand growth, structural overcapacity and increasing homogeneous competition.Especially within the regional port group, the competition among ports is particularly fierce due to the overlapping hinterland and the homogenization of some transportation business caused by the close geographical location of ports. How to clarify the competition relationship among ports, improve the integration efficiency of port resources, reduce port overconstruction and resource waste caused by homogeneous competition, and realize the dislocation development of division of labor and cooperation among ports is one of the key problems in the integration of port resources at present.Based on this,in order to achieve objective research on the competition relations among ports, this paper introduces the port gravity model and constructs the complex network evolution model of port competition relations to simulate the evolution process and study the evolution results of the competition relations among ports of different cargo types within the regional port group. The effectiveness of this research method is verified by an example analysis of coastal port groups in Shandong Province.First of all, based on the interaction theory between ports and hinterland and the interaction theory between ports, this paper analyzes and extracts the main influencing factors of the competition between ports, and puts forward the quantitative method for the main influencing factors of port cargo category competitiveness. This paper comprehensively considers the port production capacity, port operating conditions, port city development level, port hinterland industry support capacity of four aspects, perfect port cargo category competitiveness evaluation index system and index calculation method. The comprehensive evaluation results of port cargo category competitiveness are obtained by using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, which lays a foundation for the evolution simulation of the competition relationship among ports within the port group.Further, this paper constructs the port competitive relationship complex network evolution model, the gravity model combined with improved complex network evolution model,a clear edge in port competitive relationship complex network and the definition of edge right, and refer to the scale-free complex network model and evolution mechanism of the weighted model for regional port group of competition between ports in the evolvement of parsing and evolution process of simulation. Finally, the competitive relationship network between ports is formed and the network indicators are analyzed to achieve objective research on the competitive relationship between different cargo categories among ports. Finally, taking coastal ports in Shandong Province as an example, this paper completes the above calculation and analysis process, analyzes the network topology, network edge weight, node strength and other indicators, and clarifies the competitive relationship between ports and the overall competitive situation of port groups.Furthermore, this paper puts forward the port development strategy,in order to help form a well-organized port group development model with clear positioning, and promote the efficient integration of port resources. The quantitative method of influencing factors of port competition relationship and the complex network evolution model of port competition relationship constructed in this paper can provide methodological support for the quantitative analysis of the competition relationship among ports within the port group, and provide reference for the formulation of port planning.
