Transportation infrastructure is one of the most important supporting conditions for the economic growth of a country or region,and its complete state and smoothness greatly affect the quality and quantity of economic growth.High-speed railway is a very important part of transportation infrastructure.In recent years,it has become a hot term that appears frequently in my country’s economy and society.Due to its fast and excellent commuting ability,high-speed rail effectively shortens the time and space distance between different regions,and accelerates the flow and exchange of various economic factors,thereby adjusting and optimizing the layout of different economic regions,bringing practical production and life benefits.It has greatly facilitated and effectively promoted economic growth and improvement of people’s living standards.With the continuous maturity of high-speed rail-related technologies in my country,the corresponding construction experience is gradually enriched.The opening of high-speed rail in prefecture-level cities has gradually spread on a large scale and with high density.The accessibility between them has been greatly improved,the number of various line nodes is increasing,and the high-speed rail network is constantly improving,creating favorable conditions for urban economic growth and coordinated development.Starting from the actual situation of the opening and operation of high-speed rail in my country,this paper focuses on the substantial achievements that have been achieved in the process of high-speed rail construction in my country,followed by the development trend of the former high-speed rail construction is still in full swing,combined with important national strategy such as transportation power and railway first.The paper mainly discusses the following aspects: What is the overall effect of the opening of high-speed rail on the economic growth of prefecture-level cities in my country,what mechanism does it use to achieve this economic growth,and the high-speed rail economy in different types of cities whether the effect is the same.This paper adopts the method of Difference-in-Differences model,and through theoretical mechanism analysis and model empirical research,it is concluded that high-speed rail has a significant positive impact on the growth of urban economy and the enhancement of the masses living quality.Specifically:(1)The opening of high-speed rail has a very important role in promoting the economic growth of prefecture-level cities,and this role is significant and robust,will pass various types of tests.Further analysis also shows that the opening of high-speed rail is also conducive to improving the income level of residents and improving the happiness of people’s lives.(2)The opening of high-speed rail can accelerate urban economic growth by promoting the upgrading of industrial structure.High-speed rail accelerates the flow of labor across industries,promotes the development of the tertiary industry represented by commodities and services,and has a favorable impact on the optimization and development of the three industrial structures,and on this basis promote urban economic growth and high-quality development.(3)The results of the heterogeneity analysis at the end of the article show that the impact of high-speed rail on various regions and types of cities is different.Compared with the central and western regions,the economic effects of high-speed rail in the northeastern and eastern regions are more prominent;compared with the riverside and coastal cities,the economic effects of high-speed rail in the non-riverside and non-coastal cities are more prominent;compared with the inner regions of the five major urban agglomerations,the economic effects of high-speed rail in the outer regions of the five major urban agglomerations are more prominent.The results of heterogeneity analysis have an important reference for the future development of my country’s transportation infrastructure construction and high-speed rail business. |
