In recent years,the socio-economic status and education level of women have been continuously improved,and more and more companies have paid attention to more diversified occupational composition,which has led to a continuous increase in the number of female executives,and women are also playing an increasingly important role in corporate management.character of.However,women’s professional quality is still shackled,their career development still faces a "glass ceiling",and the development situation is still not optimistic.In the information economy society,the in-depth digital transformation of enterprises has brought solutions to many old problems.So can the use of information and communication technology promote the development of women’s careers? In the past,the restriction of women’s career development is related to the degree of gender equality concept in the environment.Can information and communication technology improve women’s career development by improving gender equality awareness in the working environment? What is the mechanism?Based on the above considerations,this paper follows the research logic from theory to practice.First,using the World Bank’s 2012 Chinese manufacturing enterprise survey data and CGSS data,and using the Probit and Logit models,this paper studies the impact of ICT on women’s career development and its mechanism.The study found that:(1)the degree of enterprise informatization significantly promotes the career development of women,that is,the higher the degree of informatization of the enterprise,the more likely that women become executives;(2)the degree of support of enterprise information technology significantly promotes the career development of women,that is,the closer the production and operation of an enterprise is to informatization,the more likely that a woman will become a senior executive;(3)In terms of the influence mechanism,gender culture plays an intermediary role,that is,information and communication technology promotes an equal gender culture by promoting an equal gender culture.Affect women’s career development.Next,this paper conducts semi-structured interviews with a catering enterprise in N city as the research object.Through the interview results of employees at different levels,it confirms the impact and mechanism of information and communication technology on women’s career development in enterprises from a practical point of view.The main contribution of this paper is to provide evidence to put the impact of ICT on women in perspective.ICT promotes women’s career development by influencing the gender culture in women’s environment.An equal gender culture should be built,so that women can use information and communication technology to obtain more job opportunities in the context of digital transformation,let the society abandon the stereotyped thinking about women’s career development,and provide respect and understanding for women’s career development.Finally,this paper gives specific policy recommendations. |
