Innovation is the core force for enterprises to achieve sustainable development and survival.For enterprises,the important source of innovation is employee creativity.This study explores the influence of the bottom line mentality of leaders on employee creativity and its mechanism,and builds relevant theoretical research models.Bottom-line mentality refers to one-dimensional thinking that focuses on obtaining bottom-line results while ignoring other important matters of the organization.With the intensification of market competition,leaders’ high bottom-line mentality will motivate employees to exceed their targets in the short term.In the long run,the negative effects of high bottom-line mentality are becoming more and more obvious,but the empirical research is still insufficient.Therefore,this study explores the influence of leadership bottom-line mentality on employee creativity and its mechanism through empirical research,and provides opinions and suggestions for current enterprise development.Based on the Literature Review,this study constructs a model of the effect of leader bottom-line mentality on employee creativity,and introduces the construal level and leader-member exchange relationship as mediating variables.This study focused on high-tech manufacturing,banking,automobile manufacturing and other industries,through the questionnaire survey obtained 93 teams of 305 valid questionnaires,through data analysis,the conclusions are as follows:(1)The leader bottom-line mentality has no significant effect on employee construal level,and the improvement of subordinates construal level has no significant effect on employee creativity.(2)There is no mediating effect between leader bottom-line mentality and employee creativity,and the mediating effect between leader bottom-line mentality and subordinates creativity requires a specific work situation or situation.(3)Leader bottom-line mentality reduces leader-member exchange relationship(4)Leader-member exchange relationship mediates the relationship between leader bottom-line mentality and subordinates creativity.This result shows that high-quality leader-member relationship can motivate subordinates to work around the organization’s goals,stimulate the sense of ownership in the organization,and enable employees to integrate their personal values with the organization’s values,then improve the sense of belonging and mission of the staff to the organization,further improve their subjective initiative in the work,more willing to change and innovate.As a result,subordinates are more creative in high quality relationships.According to the research conclusion,it is suggested that enterprises should innovate the current management concept and pay more attention to the bottom line mentality while paying attention to hardware facilities such as environment.While creating a good innovation atmosphere,improve employees’ willingness to innovate,so as to lay a solid foundation for the improvement of enterprise innovation level.
