Evolution Mechanism Of Bio-pharmaceutical Industry Cluster In Suzhou Industrial Park

In the era of knowledge-based economy,the bio-pharmaceutical industry has become the leading high-tech industry in many developed countries.It has also been regarded as a strategic emerging industry in our country.We will continue to increase policy support and capital investment to promote the rapid development of industry.Because of better infrastructure and institutional arrangements,industrial parks are the main zones for developing emerging industries in China.However,there also exist some problems for most of bio-pharmaceutical industrial parks in the actual situation,such as low level of agglomeration,repetitive construction,insufficient innovation ability and incompact connection of innovation factors.Therefore,we choose the Suzhou Industrial Park,one of top-ranked industrial parks in our country,as a case study to discuss the evolution mechanism of the bio-pharmaceutical industrial cluster in the park,to provide some development ideas for its transformation and upgrading and countermeasures for other areas to cultivate the bio-pharmaceutical industry.Based on the theory of industrial cluster life cycle,this paper constructs a multi-factor and multi-mechanism analysis framework of cluster evolution from the perspective of economic geography.Through combing the history and current situation of the Suzhou Industrial Park,it is divided into stages for the evolutionary process,analyzing the evolutionary characteristics of each stage.Then,based on the analytical framework of cluster evolution,it is discussed to find the evolutionary mechanism of the cluster from the perspectives of institution,technology,network,government and enterprise.It is found that policy-institution arrangement plays a very important role in the evolution of bio-pharmaceutical industrial cluster,which is the basic condition of enterprise derivation.The evolution of industrial clusters is a dynamic process of multi-factors and multi-mechanisms.According to the analysis of the evolution process and mechanism,we find that there are some problems in the current Suzhou Industrial Park,such as the shortage of clinical resources,the shortage of talents and the urgent need of product commercialization support.It is suggested that we should strengthen the cultivation of the main body,integrate the resources of innovation,optimize the distribution of industries and improve the ecological environment of the clusters.
