With the increasing demand for location-based services,high-precision indoor navigation and positioning have received great attentions from academia and industry.Nowadays, the wide deployment of light emitting diode(LED)has provided extremely favorable conditions for the development and research of visible light positioning(VLP).Compared with traditional indoor positioning technology,LED-based VLP enjoys appealing advantages such as higher accuracy, lower implementation cost as well as conjunction of lighting and communication. At present, received signal strength(RSS)-based VLP is the most popular candidate, since RSS values can be easily acquired using a single photodiode(PD)with no need of auxiliary devices. However, the existing RSS-based studies do not take into account the receiving angle perturbation and limited receiving field-of-view(FOV),making the positioning method less practical in real scenarios. To address the above issues, this thesis investigates the RSS-based VLP technology in the cases of the receiver tilting angle and limited receiving FOV.The main contributions are listed as follows.1.Design and performance evaluation of robust RSS-based VLP scheme with receiver tilting angleConsidering the case with unknown receiver tilting angle,we propose a robust RSS-based VLP scheme which jointly estimates the receiver coordinate and the receiver feature vector from the RSS vector.Through mathematical derivation, the original estimation problem is equivalently converted into the problem that maximizes the projection of the RSS vector on the column space spanned by the measurement matrix. In order to further reduce the computational complexity,an importance sampling(IS)based algorithm is proposed for solving the VLP problem. Finally, the simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the robustness of the proposed VLP scheme in the case of unknown receiver tilting angle.2.Design and performance evaluation of robust RSS-based VLP scheme with limited receiving FOVConsidering the case with limited receiving FOV,we propose a robust RSS-based VLP scheme which first performs the time-frequency transform on the received signal, and then jointly estimates the receiver coordinates,LED effectiveness indicator vector, signal phase and receiving coefficient from the frequency-domain RSS vector.Through mathematical derivation, the original estimation problem is equivalently converted into the problem that maximizies the angle between the effective RSS modulus vector and the effective RSS feature vector. Finally, the simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in the case of limited receiving FOV.
