As a fundamental communication service,email has been played an important role in the Internet,even with the current rapid development of instant messaging technology.During the development of e-mail service,its coverage has become increasingly extensive,gradually becoming the official communication method in entities such as commercial companies,government organizations,educational organizations,and financial organizations.Under such practical application background,the security of email service needs to be better guaranteed.The process of email service involves interactions of multiple protocols,the use of different kinds of services,and the participation of multiple devices,so its safety is achieved by multiparty participation.A problem at any point in the process would affect the security of the entire system.Illegal parties often use the vulnerability of the email identity authentication chain to launch email forgery attacks,masquerading as trusted identities,and sending emails containing phishing website links,ransomware,or malicious files to the recipient.These malicious activities may cause significant losses to the deceived users who disclose private data.To guarantee the security of email service,a series of e-mail security extension protocols have been proposed.These protocols help users verify whether the sender’s identity can be trusted,and define corresponding rules to decide how to deal with suspicious emails.In order to study the security and practical application of the e-mail security extension protocol,we have completed the following work:First,based on the data sources related to the e-mail service,we have designed a corresponding method that can more accurately identify the corresponding management subjects of an e-mail service,which provides more comprehensive information for cyberspace measurement.Secondly,we have measured the e-mail security extension protocols on a large scale,showing its corresponding deployment rate in different dimensions.In the process of measurement,we have also found many actual errors,and have given the analysis process and corresponding suggestions.Finally,we try to apply the idea of fuzzy test to the security test of e-mail system.Based on the way of text mutation,the real vulnerabilities in the actual e-mail system are discovered.Through the above research,the security of the current e-mail system is analyzed in a multi-dimensional way,and the possible problems in e-mail security are found.
