Eating live-streaming or online eating broadcast is short for mukbang.It’s a kind of online live reality show that influencers consume a variety of food in front of a camera and earn audiences’ rewards at home.The popularity of mukbang nationwide represents both the changing of people’s lifestyles and the robust development of technology and information in the media Internet era.However,CCTV has raised its concern about the industry,criticizing binge-eating live-streamers for serious waste for several times.Some live streaming and social networking platforms have heeded the call to establish stringent measures to constrain eating broadcast programs.Their efforts seem to be in vain as there are still many contents that violate social ethics,rules and even laws on some platforms.On the ground,this paper seeks to identify what difficulties and sore points in the current eating broadcast governance,and to shed light on the plight failed the regulation and to safeguard the sustainable development of the eating broadcast industry.Taking literature research method,case analysis method and content analysis method as the main research methods,this paper pores over the current academic research and real situation,pinpointing the problems and proposing further improvement measures for the regulation on the eating broadcast industry.The research finds problems arising out of the governance of eating broadcast,such as“over-reliance on government legislation”,“weak supervision on platforms” and“lack of social participation”.In view of the existing deficiencies,the government,platforms,netizens,live streamers and other subjects need to engage in this industry with a thorough awareness of the limitations of their own behavior.Their endeavors in improving their self-regulation may guide the eating broadcast industry to develop in a healthy manner.
