Research On The Influence Of The Interaction Between Platform Enterprises And Complementors From The Perspective Of Platform Ecosystem

In the platform ecosystem,the good interaction between platform enterprises and complementors is the basis of collaborative innovation.In the actual business environment,there are differences in the types of interaction between the two subjects.What lead to different interactive relationships,and how does the different interactive relationship between the two types of subjects influence development of the platform ecosystem have not been deeply discussed in previous studies.This paper hold that the interaction between platform enterprises and complementors is actually a coupling relationship of mutual influence,which can be divided into close coupling and loose coupling according to the degree of coupling.Through the grounded analysis and case study of Xiaomi Io T platform ecosystem,the results show that:(1)The joint force of four factors:the strategic objectives of platform enterprises,the complexity of complementary market,the level of interdependence between platform enterprises and complementors,and the uncertainty of market demand affect the choice of coupling relationship between platform enterprises and complementors;(2)Under different kinds of coupling relationships,the degree of coupling between platform enterprises and complementors in four aspects:cultural values,complementary resources,physical system and management system will affect the development of platform ecosystem;(3)Closely coupling between platform enterprises and complementors will strengthen the value proposition of platform core products or services and create unique competitive advantages;(4)Loose coupling between platform enterprises and complementors will stimulate network effect,supplement the diversity of ecosystem and realize rapid expansion.The research conclusion reveals the causes of different interactive relationships between the two subjects in the platform ecosystem and the impact mechanism of different interactive relationships on the development of the platform ecosystem,enriches the research on the interactive relationships between platform enterprises and complementors in the platform ecosystem,and provides some reference suggestions for the platform to choose to build different interactive relationships.
