As the basic content of junior high school mathematics, the operation of rational numbers runs through the entire junior high school and is an important object of examination for the middle school entrance examination.Through the learning of rational numbers, students can develop their ability to analyze and solve problems, and let students realize that mathematics comes from life and serves life. This article studies the errors and causes of the seventh grade students’ learning of rational numbers and their operations.Through the analysis of the factors that affect students’ mathematical problem solving,it continues to analyze the types of rational numbers and their operations errors, the reasons for the errors, and the reasons for them.To conduct research on teaching strategies to gain in-depth understanding of the current learning situation and existing problems of the seventh grade students, hoping to provide some reference suggestions for this part of the teaching. This article mainly studies the following three questions: 1.What are the typical mistakes in the rational number operations of the seventh grade students;2.The reasons for the errors of the seventh grade students in the rational number operations;3.How should teachers improve the teaching methods of rational numbers. The seventh grade students and mathematics teachers in a middle school are selected as the research objects, and data are collected by methods such as literature method, text analysis method, survey research method, observation method, and interview method.According to the survey results, the main types of mistakes made by seventh graders in their learning of rational numbers and their calculations are: 1.Not understanding the meaning of the question;2.Inattentive calculation;3.Poor classification and discussion skills;4.Lack of life experience and quantity Finding wrong relationships, wrong algebraic expressions,etc.;5.The problem-solving steps are not standardized;6.The lack of awareness of inspection makes it difficult to detect errors in symbols and algorithms in the process;7.For the same question type, only the method is recorded, and Do not pay attention to understanding,so it is difficult to solve problems. In response to the above errors and causes, this study proposes the following teaching strategies: 1.Combining teaching materials, closely linking with the actual life background in the teaching process, cultivating students’ interest in learning, and enriching students’ life experience.2.Help students consolidate their mastery of rational number operations, strengthen students’ symbol awareness, and consider more comprehensively when calculating.3.When explaining the exercises, pay attention to teaching students how to review the questions, how to use the conditions in the questions, how to write process, how to test, guide students to reflect, summarize knowledge points and error-prone points.4.In teaching practice, teachers should give full consideration to students’ learning ability, pay attention to students’ feedback, pay attention to students’ dynamics, and give learning suggestions in a timely manner to help students break through difficulties and establish confidence in learning rational numbers.
