| Western pop music has gained widespread popularity among the public due to its beautiful melodies,deeply ingrained lyrics,and the performance of musicians.Since its inception and development,Western pop music has gradually formed a large-scale industrial system globally,while also forming a strong cross-cultural and cross regional dissemination power.Western pop music has also been widely spread in China,especially among young people,showing a high penetration of cross-cultural communication.This study takes Grammy winning works,the benchmark in Western pop music,as an example,selecting six major pop music genres that won Grammy awards from2010 to 2019,including pop,rock,country,dance,rhythm and blues,and rap.Attempt to analyze the dissemination and influence of Western pop music among Chinese university students.The study used a combination of questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to explore the current situation,effectiveness,mechanism,and influencing factors of the dissemination of contemporary Western pop music among Chinese university students.This research has found that the Grammy winning works between 2010 and 2019 has achieved good communication effectiveness among Chinese university student groups.From the perspective of factors that affect dissemination,Western pop music has advantages such as "the strong strength of musicians and the attention of brand owners" in terms of dissemination subjects,while also facing the dilemma of "difficulty in participating in local dissemination";Having advantages such as "rich themes and innovation in music genres" in terms of dissemination content;At the level of communication channels,it has advantages such as "platform diversification,privatization,and the revival of ‘slow media’",while also facing difficulties such as "circle barriers,channel deficiencies,and selective reporting";At the audience level,it has advantages such as "meeting needs and identifying with identity",while also facing difficulties such as "individual differences and weak copyright awareness";At the level of communication environment,it has advantages such as "a mature business model and global market dominance",while also facing difficulties such as "language differences and market competition".Based on the research findings,the inspiration for the overseas dissemination of popular music in China is proposed: at the level of dissemination subjects,the strength of musicians should be enhanced and attention should be paid to external dissemination;at the level of dissemination content,the characteristics of Chinese culture and creative subjectivity should be enhanced;at the level of dissemination channels,overseas music dissemination channels should be opened up and overseas music opinion leaders should be explored;at the audience level,the cultural awareness and emotional needs of overseas audiences should be enhanced,At the level of communication environment,policies and markets should give support. |
