Abstract/Summary:
Children left behind,a product of China’s urbanisation,have been in a state of "affection starvation" for a long time,and their physical and mental health problems have become increasingly prominent.The healthy and comprehensive growth of left-behind children is related to the interests of each family,the healthy growth of the future generation of the motherland,the revitalisation of our countryside,and the stability,prosperity and well-being of the country.As China’s economic and social development continues to accelerate and people’s aspirations for a better life continue to strengthen,the number of farmers who choose to work in the cities will continue to increase and even intensify,and the pattern of families left behind will continue to exist in the longer term.This study chose Pingli County,Ankang City,Shaanxi Province as the fieldwork site,and used literature research,expert consultation,measurement,questionnaires,observation and interviews and mathematical statistics to study the current situation of the physical and mental health of left-behind children in Pingli County,Shaanxi Province,with students from Grade 3 to Grade 9 in four local schools:Old County Nine-Year School,Chengguan Junior High School,Chengguan Second Primary School and Chengguan Fourth Primary School,school leaders,school Teachers,as well as community directors and some students’ guardians were used as the subjects of the survey.The study was carried out in three aspects:physical health,mental health and the relationship between physical and mental health of left-behind children.From the interdisciplinary perspective of physical education and sociology,an in-depth investigation was conducted into the causes of physical and mental health of left-behind children in the local area,and then scientific analysis and collation were used to study the methods and suggestions for solving the problems,so as to explore a suitable path for the physical and mental health development of left-behind children.The study found that at the physical health level,the overall level of the five common test indicators in the physical health test of Pingli County students was lower than the average level of Han Chinese students,and the overall achievement rate and score of the total physical health test of left-behind children was lower than that of non-left-behind children,both in general and by gender.The overall health level of the students surveyed was average.In terms of mental health,the detection rate of high scores on the Mental Health Diagnostic Scale for left-behind children is higher than that of existing studies,and there is a significant difference between the mental health levels of left-behind and nonleft-behind children,with the overall mental health level of left-behind children being lower than that of non-left-behind children,especially for left-behind girls.In terms of physical and mental health,there is a negative correlation between the overall physical health test scores of students and left behind children in Pingli County and the overall mental health diagnosis scores.The reasons for the physical and mental health of left-behind children in Pingli County include the lack of family education function;The atmosphere of sports activities is not strong;There are four aspects:the disadvantages of resettlement communities and the weakness of policies and regulations.To solve the physical and mental health problems of left-behind children in Pingli County,we should start from four aspects:family,school,community and government.Parents of left-behind children should strengthen family care and establish positive parent-child relationship;Correct education attitude and establish good education values and sports values.Schools should strengthen the educational management of left-behind children,actively improve the educational environment,and effectively play the role of mental health classroom;Strive to promote home-school cooperation and actively create a good atmosphere for sports activities;Scientific management of educational archives for left-behind children.The community should strengthen the construction of the grass-roots community,establish the mechanism of connection and co-construction,and give full play to the health education and monitoring role of the community for leftbehind children;Strengthen the construction of social sports instructors;Carry out a variety of community assistance work.The government should effectively strengthen the supervision service of relevant policies and regulations;Strengthen the construction of social support system and strengthen the publicity of caring for left-behind children;Adjust the industrial structure of community factories and deepen the industrial integration of talents;Encourage the development of various sports work and promote the integration of sports and education.
