| In the first year of the 14 th Five-Year Plan,the state proposed the goal of building a high-quality education system,enhancing students’ awareness of social responsibility and practical skills,further promoting all walks of life in education to explore and broaden the depth of students’ comprehensive quality and ability training mode.The past New Curriculum Reform which only reformed the teaching or curriculum,that was not satisfactory.With the in-depth influence of the Student based ideas and the development of educational management thoughts,people began to pay attention to the reform of school management.The primary school is a critical period of physical and mental development and the formation of various qualities.It is very important to cultivate pupils’ sense of ownership and the ability to participate in various management tasks of school from this stage.This is not only in line with the student based hot spot of practice,but also the basic requirement of the future society for the quality of talents.However,pupils are affected by many factors such as age,experience and mentality,so the effectiveness of their engagement in school management has been questioned.Therefore,the core issue of this dissertation is how to promote the effective engagement of pupils in school management,improve their subjective consciousness,promote the construction of Democratic primary school management,and provide new ideas for deepening the reform of the education system.Based on the theory of Student based ideas,subjective education theory and the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child,the dissertation investigated the basic situation of senior pupils’ engagement in the management of school by questionnaire among 180 senior pupils in three primary schools in B city.There are four dimensions in the questionnaire survey which are the way of participating in school management,the content of engagement,the strategy of engagement and the attitude of engagement.The data of the questionnaire was analyzed with SPSS 25.0 system.The results of the survey showed that senior pupils have a high level of awareness and attitude towards engagement in school management,but most of them are passive engagement,the main ways and means of engagement are single,the frequency and proficiency of engagement are not high,the duration of participation is not fixed,and the content of engagement needs to be enriched and improved.Engagement attitudes were different in gender,engagement strategies were different in gender,age,cadre experience and source of tasks.However there was no significant difference between the three schools.According to the results of the questionnaire,the dissertation conducted one-on-one interviews with eleven managers,teachers and students from the three schools,and concluded that the current problems of senior pupils’ engagement in school management include: the lack of spontaneity,purpose,self-control of senior pupils’ engagement,and the lack of support for senior pupils’ engagement in school management,and insufficient content of engaging in school management,low utilization of channels,and lack of engagement procedures and supervision mechanisms,etc.Then it analyzed causes of the problems from the factors of senior pupils,managers and teachers,as well as the management environment inside and outside the school.In order to solve the problems of pupils’ engagement in school management and improve the effect of engagement,the following strategic suggestions were put forward based on the analysis of causes.First,deepen the Student based ideas of management,enhance the students’ sense of subject and responsibility,establish the correct education thinking,and introduce advanced modern education management concepts.Second,the school should expand effective channels of engagement,formulate training plans and engagement content for different stages and targets,and improve the construction of the engagement system.Third,create a fair and democratic school management atmosphere inside and outside,improve the internal management system,and promote the implementation of relevant policies and regulations for pupils to engage in school management. |
