| Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)issued by the Ministry of Education identified mathematical modeling as one of the "Six core qualities" and clarified the definition of mathematical modeling.Compulsory Education Curriculum Standards(2022 edition)clearly points out that junior high school should cultivate students’ model concept.Mathematical modeling can help students better grasp mathematical knowledge,and play an important role in cultivating students’ thinking,analysis,innovation and other abilities.Mathematics textbook is an important carrier of teaching activities.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the characteristics of mathematical modeling in textbook in terms of content level,presentation position and representation mode for cultivating students’ ability to solve practical problems.In this study,12 middle school mathematics textbooks of Beijing Normal University edition and Human Education Edition were selected and analyzed with the framework of mathematical modeling analysis.Based on the horizontal and longitudinal study of the two middle school textbooks,this study provides support for the further development of mathematical modeling theory in the existing middle school mathematics textbooks and provides references for the compilation of textbooks and the classroom teaching design of front-line teachers.Firstly,this paper summarizes relevant researches at home and abroad,clarifies the evolution and development status of mathematical modeling in mathematics textbooks,and clarifies the analytical framework of mathematical modeling research: Vertically,it contains four first-level indicators(model selection,model building,model validation and model application)and 16 second-level indicators,while horizontally,it contains three first-level dimensions(content level,presentation position and representation way)and 15 second-level dimensions.Secondly,according to the evaluation criteria of each index of the analysis framework,the coding statistics are carried out.According to the index system of the analysis framework,the internal representation analysis and study section characterization analysis are carried out on the mathematical modeling of junior middle school mathematics textbooks.Thirdly,based on the analysis results,the textbook modeling teaching strategy and modeling teaching design are developed.Finally,this paper summarizes and summarizes the results of the research,provides suggestions for the compilation of junior middle school mathematics textbooks and teaching design of front-line teachers,and looks forward to the future development of junior middle school mathematical modeling activities.The research results showed that the internal representation of the two textbooks showed that the model verification link in the math textbooks was relatively weak,the consistency and consistency of the knowledge points were poor,the presentation of mathematical modeling in the background of the introduction was ignored,and the representation of mathematical modeling content was single.The representation of the two editions of the textbooks shows that the mathematical modeling in the textbooks generally follows the principle of step by step.First of all,the content level dimension has a large decline in grade nine;Secondly,the mathematical modeling content is less presented in the introduction background and reading column.Finally,the dimensions of representation are more diversified in each grade,but they focus on the concept law and text examples.There are some defects in the interpretation of school history,which all show the characteristics of decline with the rise of grade.Based on the research results,this study puts forward research suggestions in terms of teaching strategies:(1)develop appropriate teaching objectives,(2)select appropriate modeling content,and(3)design an effective and complete modeling process.In terms of textbook writing and teaching design:(1)Attach importance to the cohesion of learning segments to ensure the sustainable development of mathematical modeling ability;(2)Use diversified representation to stimulate students’ interest in learning;(3)Construct a complete modeling process to cultivate students’ mathematical modeling literacy;(4)Reasonable use of textbooks,give full play to the educational function of textbooks. |
