Under the background of the deepening reform of physical education,the importance of school sports is increasing,and the value of athletics elective courses is not only reflected in the promotion of students’ professional sports skills,but also in improving the development of students’ overall physical fitness,forging sound ideological character,and laying good sports habits for lifelong sports.According to the active call of the national sports policy,this paper absorbs the advanced physical education concepts of the new era.Do not forget the original intention,effectively combine the research results of the education ancestors with the excellent and scientific research methods abroad,take its essence,fully tap the educational value of athletics,and promote the vigorous development of the teaching of elective courses in athletics in China.However,with the reform and progress of sports elective courses,more emerging fun sports projects have entered the physical education classroom of higher vocational colleges,resulting in the difficulty of athletics elective courses in higher vocational colleges,and the teaching of athletics elective courses has been directly canceled.Let the athletics elective courses provide value in the development of physical education courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges,which plays an important role in promoting the construction of athletics elective courses in higher vocational colleges.By using the literature method,questionnaire survey method,interview method,mathematical statistics method and SWOT analysis method,the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and threats of the development of athletics elective courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges are displayed,and then the factors are effectively analyzed and combined into the corresponding SWOT matrix,from which the corresponding scientific development path is proposed.In this paper,a sample of770 elective students of athletics courses and 42 physical education teachers from 14 vocational colleges in Guangzhou was randomly selected according to regional division.The SWOT analysis method analyzes the development status of athletics elective courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges and universities and draws the following conclusions:1.The advantages of the development of athletics courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges include: reasonable teaching objectives of athletics elective courses,rich allocation of teaching resources for athletics elective courses,advantages of athletics courses themselves,and remarkable teaching effects of athletics elective courses.2.The disadvantages of the development of athletics courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges include: insufficient equipment in teaching venues,lack of students’ understanding of athletics,low attention of students to athletics elective courses,lack of professional quality of teachers,low interest in athletics courses by students,and lack of professional training for teachers.3.The opportunities for the development of athletics courses in Guangzhou vocational colleges include: effective support for the reform of national sports policies4.The threats and challenges to the development of track and field elective courses in vocational colleges in Guangzhou include: the influence of traditional sports teaching concepts,unreasonable evaluation methods for track and field assessment,weak awareness of students’ exercise,lack of integration of network sports functions,and the impact of other elective projects.5.Development path for track and field elective courses in vocational colleges in Guangzhou: Utilize the support of national sports policies to upgrade the allocation of teaching resources for track and field elective courses in vocational colleges;Utilize the advantages of track and field to enhance the status and value of track and field elective courses in vocational colleges in Guangzhou;Increase publicity efforts for track and field elective courses to meet the needs of vocational college students for track and field elective courses.6.Analysis of the Reverse Development Path of Track and Field Elective Courses in Guangzhou Vocational Colleges: Utilizing National Policy Support to Improve Track and Field Equipment;Utilize reasonable teaching objectives for elective courses in track and field to strengthen students’ diversified understanding of track and field content;Give full play to the government’s policy functions and increase the attention of teachers and students in vocational colleges in Guangzhou to track and field events.7.Analysis of the diversified development paths of track and field elective courses in vocational colleges in Guangzhou: By leveraging the advantages of abundant teaching resources for track and field elective courses,buffer the impact of other sports events;Utilizing the professional development characteristics of vocational education,setting reasonable track and field assessment content and standards;Promote the integration of online sports and vigorously promote the development of online track and field sports.8.Analysis of the Development Path of Defense in the Elective Course of Track and Field in Guangzhou Vocational Colleges: Improve the teaching mode of track and field in vocational colleges and learn from each other’s strengths and weaknesses;Improve infrastructure construction and improve the quality of track and field teaching in vocational colleges.
