A Comparative Study Of The "Function" Content In The Required Senior High School Mathematics Textbooks Of Hunan Education Press And Beijing Normal University Press

In the autumn of 2021,Gansu Province launched the "Three New" curriculum reform of new curriculum,new college entrance examination,and new textbooks,which have been fully utilized.As one of the basic elements of educational activities,textbooks carry the basic concepts and specific requirements of curriculum standards,directly affecting the effectiveness of teaching and the comprehensive development of students.Therefore,the study of textbooks is of great significance,and as an important mainline in high school mathematics curriculum,the topic content of functions is an important carrier for cultivating students’ core literacy.Therefore,This research selects the function theme content in the textbooks of Ordinary High School Mathematics Textbook · Compulsory(Hunan Education Edition for short)published by Hunan Education Publishing House in 2019 and Ordinary High School Mathematics Textbook · Compulsory(Beijing Normal University Edition for short)published by Beijing Normal University Press as the research object,Regarding the two main questions of "What are the characteristics of the content structure of the function theme in the two versions of textbooks?" "What are the differences in the difficulty of the function theme content in the two versions of textbooks?",literature review,comparative analysis,and content analysis methods are used to conduct research.The research results indicate that:(1)in terms of style and structure,the two versions of textbooks have the same basic composition.The difference is that the chapter head of the Hunan Education Press is directly displayed in pictures,while the Beijing Normal University Press is presented as the background,with famous quotes indicating the theme of this chapter;Although the names of the expansion columns are different,they all contain rich mathematical reading materials,the combination of information technology and mathematical knowledge,and guidance and suggestions during the learning process;In the summary of this chapter,the Hunan Education Press uses questions to promote students’ self-examination,while the Beijing Normal University Press clearly points out the learning tasks of this chapter,enabling students to identify their own shortcomings by comparing them with learning objectives.(2)In terms of content distribution,Hunan Education Press adopts the integrated arrangement system,that is,the application of Power function,Exponential function,logarithmic function,function,etc.is integrated into one chapter,while Beijing Normal University Edition adopts chapter by chapter arrangement,and the above contents are separated into chapters;The differences in the selection of content between the two versions of textbooks are reflected in the column settings and the selection and distribution of column content.(3)In terms of content presentation,in terms of concepts and principles,the Beijing Normal University version has strong extensibility and hierarchy,rich and specific content presentation,while the Hunan Education version has higher generality and abstraction,inspiring students to think through questions and allowing them to explore the process of knowledge formation;In terms of the introduction of mathematical culture,the two versions of textbooks have different focuses.The Beijing Normal University edition focuses on example exercises,while the Hunan Education edition focuses on both the main text and example exercises.Both versions of textbooks can effectively embed mathematical culture to enhance students’ interest in learning;Hunan Education Press uses more "super drawing boards" in mathematical experiments,and Beijing Normal University uses more Applied science calculators;The presentation of mathematical modeling content includes the entire process of mathematical modeling in both versions of textbooks,but the process of mathematical modeling in the Beijing Normal University version is not as detailed as in the Hunan Education Edition.(4)In terms of example exercises setting,the total number of example exercises in the Hunan Education Press is lower than that in the Beijing Normal University Press.There are fewer example exercises involving cultural and scientific scenarios in the two versions of textbooks,and both versions mainly focus on scenario free exercises.In terms of the level of exercises in each chapter,Level 1 and Level 2 are the main ones.Hunan Education Edition has no Level 3 exercises,while Beijing Normal University Edition has a small number of Level 3 exercises,which provides more Learning space for students who can spare no effort.(5)In terms of the difficulty of the text,the Beijing Normal University version is larger than the Hunan version,and the difference is mainly reflected in the three chapters of Power function,Exponential function and logarithmic function,Trigonometric functions,and trigonometric identity transformation.In terms of content breadth,Hunan Education Edition is larger than Beijing Normal University Edition,while in terms of content depth and content abstraction,Beijing Normal University Edition is larger than Hunan Education Edition,which is mainly reflected in the chapter of Power function,Exponential function and logarithmic function.(6)In terms of difficulty of example exercises,the comprehensive difficulty of example exercises in Hunan Education Press is greater than that in Beijing Normal University Press,and the gap is small,which is mainly caused by the difficulty factor of cognitive requirements.In the four chapters of the concept and nature of function,Power function,Exponential function and logarithmic function,Trigonometric functions,trigonometric identity transformation,the average value of cognitive requirements in Hunan Education Press is greater than that in Beijing Normal University Press;In terms of exercise difficulty,the Hunan Education Edition is slightly higher than the Beijing Normal University Edition.In the chapter of Trigonometric functions,Hunan Education Press is larger than Beijing Normal University in terms of background,cognitive requirements,knowledge content and reasoning.In the two chapters of Power function,Exponential function,logarithmic function and trigonometric identity transformation,the difficulty values of reasoning and background difficulty factors of Hunan Education Press are higher than those of Beijing Normal University.On the whole,the comprehensive difficulty of textbooks of Hunan Education Press is lower than that of Beijing Normal University.Based on the above research,the following insights can be drawn: pay attention to the application of information technology and achieve deep integration of information technology and course content;Proficient in mining the background of function content and emphasizing the process of knowledge generation;Effectively coordinate the difficulty of textbook content and teaching difficulty,and construct an efficient mathematics classroom;Actively participate in themed teaching and research activities,promote the professional development of teachers.
