Mathematical ability is one of the six core literacies of mathematics, and is the most basic ability required by the subject. The ability of mathematical operations affects students’ problem solving thinking and can develop students’ number sense, which requires students to be able to perform operations more reasonably, accurately, concisely and flexibly, laying a good foundation for the whole process of learning mathematics. The college entrance examination also attaches more importance to the examination of students’ mathematical operation ability, and involves a wide range of mathematical operations.Students in senior high school are in the transition stage, which is a critical period for them to develop their mathematical ability. Therefore, this paper focuses on "What is the current status of mathematical arithmetic skills of first-year students?" " What are the factors that affect the mathematical arithmetic skills of senior students?" " What are the strategies to develop the mathematical arithmetic skills of senior students?" These three questions are studied. This article is based on the definition of the main performance of mathematical operations in the General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017Edition 2020 Revision): understanding the objects of operations, mastering the laws of operations, exploring the ideas of operations and obtaining the results of operations, students’ mathematical operations ability was examined from these four performance dimensions, and a total of 220 senior high school students and 10 senior mathematics teachers from two high schools in Tianshui City were selected as the study A total of220 senior students and 10 senior mathematics teachers from two high schools in Tianshui City were selected as the subjects of the study, and the current situation of mathematical arithmetic ability of senior students and the influencing factors were analyzed by using literature research method, test paper method, questionnaire method, interview method and classroom observation method.Through the analysis,it can be found that the current situation of mathematical arithmetic ability of senior students is as follows:(1)the overall arithmetic ability of students is low and at the lower middle level;(2)students have a good grasp of understanding the object of arithmetic,an average grasp of mastering the operation method and obtaining the result of arithmetic, and a weak grasp of exploring the idea of arithmetic;(3)There is no significant difference in the mathematical ability of boys and girls, and the average score of girls is slightly higher than that of boys only in terms of test paper results;there is a significant difference in the mathematical ability of students between schools;there is a significant difference in the mathematical ability of students between classes. The following factors were analyzed:(1)students’ factors: non-intellectual factors, the use of mathematical thinking and the mastery of basic knowledge such as formulas and rules have an impact on students’ mathematical arithmetic ability;(2)teachers’ factors: teachers’ attention to arithmetic, the classroom atmosphere created by teachers, teachers’ teaching habits, teachers’ teaching level and teachers’ teaching style have an impact on students’ arithmetic ability.Based on the results of the above study, strategies for cultivating students’ mathematical arithmetic ability in senior high school are proposed:(1)pay attention to the cultivation of students’ non-intellectual factors: strengthen students’ attention to arithmetic and stimulate their interest in arithmetic;cultivate students’ good arithmetic habits and pay attention to the use of error books;guide students’ correct attribution;cultivate students’ good psychological quality;(2)strengthen the teaching of mathematical thinking methods;(3)pay attention to teaching basic knowledge;(4)strengthening teachers’ demonstration role: strengthening teachers’ attention to mathematical arithmetic ability;forming good teaching habits and creating a relaxed and pleasant classroom atmosphere;improving teachers’ teaching level and actively improving teaching methods. |
