Entering the digital age,educational data is developing at an unprecedented speed.The deep integration of learning analysis technology and education makes it possible to mine the information containing educational value in the data.The learning dashboard visualizes educational processes and outcomes.A well-designed learning dashboard can support learners to conduct self-monitoring,self-assessment,self-reflection and self-regulation in a digital learning environment.In view of the current problems such as unclear mechanism of learning dashboard on learning and controversy over its use effects,this study firstly uses literature research method to sort out the theoretical basis behind learning dashboard,and clarifies the relationship between learning dashboard and learning on the basis of explaining learning feedback,self-regulated learning,learning dashboard and other related concepts.Based on the theory of learning feedback and self-regulating learning,the mechanism model of learning dashboard promoting learning was constructed.Then the use effects of learning dashboard and the moderating effects of instructional and design features are analyzed by using the meta-analysis method.After searching and screening,a total of 30 domestic and foreign literature were included,and 82 effect sizes were obtained for meta-analysis.The included literature was coded,five instructional features and five learning dashboard design features were extracted as moderating variables.The factors influencing the use effect of learning dashboard were found through heterogeneity analysis.Finally,based on the analysis results of this study,suggestions and ideas are put forward for the design and development of learning dashboard in the future.The meta-analysis results show that the use of learning dashboard can indeed have a positive impact on learners’ learning.The effect value of learning performance was 0.488,which was close to the medium influence.The effect values of learning emotion and learning behavior were 0.371 and 0.329.Respectively,it verified the idea that learning dashboard promoted learning performance,emotion and behavior in the model.At the same time,the results of heterogeneity analysis show that the use effect of learning dashboard is affected by the moderating effects of different instructional and dashboard design features.It is found that the application of learning dashboard in procedural knowledge,blended learning,science and engineering subjects and vocational education is more effective.The design features of the learning dashboard are also important factors affecting its effect,such as process-based feedback is better than task-based feedback.The innovation of this study lies in constructing a theoretical model of the mechanism of learning dashboard on learning.In terms of research methods,a more scientific and rigorous meta-analysis method is adopted to integrate the previous research results.
