During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period,China’s higher education entered the stage of popularity. With the development of popularization of higher education and the promotion of Internet Plus Education models and Internet+ Education, the learning characteristics of higher education have become more and more prominent, and it has gradually developed into a learning society in which "everyone can learn, everywhere can learn and all the time can learn".Lifelong learning,as an important prerequisite and foundation for building a learning society, requires contemporary college students to have certain self-regulated learning ability. Therefore, improving college students’ self-regulated learning ability is not only an inevitable requirement to realize lifelong learning and build a learning society, but also an urgent need for contemporary college students to achieve sustainable development.Based on the research results on the self-regulated learning ability of college students,we define "self-regulated learning ability" as the ability of students to set learning goals independently in the process of learning,to promote the achievement of expected goals through continuous adjustment of learning plans and learning strategies, and finally to analyze and summarize the learning results through reflection. The ability to analyze and summarize learning results through reflection. On this basis, the questionnaire was developed based on the theory of self-regulated learning and the authoritative self-regulated learning ability questionnaires at home and abroad, with five dimensions of motivation management, content setting,self-regulation,learning strategies and evaluation and reflection, and surveyed 1,963 college students in six universities in Henan Province. The survey data were analyzed and processed by using statistical analysis software SPSS25.0 and statistical methods such as descriptive analysis, analysis of variance and correlation analysis to provide first-hand information for the study. The research results show that the current self-regulated learning ability of college students is at an average level.Combining the results of questionnaires and interviews, the main problems of college students’ self-regulated learning ability can be summarized as follows: poor motivation management and insufficient self-efficacy;lack of challenging content selection and weak learning transfer ability;level of willpower to be improved and insufficient self-regulated ability;lack of systematic mastery of learning strategies and lack of flexibility in practical application;single self-evaluation standard and relatively weak self-reflection awareness. The five aspects of self-evaluation criteria and self-reflection awareness are relatively weak. The root cause of these problems is the lack of self-identity of college students, which is manifested in four aspects: the lack of ontological security of college students, the obstruction of the development of self-identity of college students, the lack of professional identity of college students and the lack of self-awareness of college students. In view of the specific problems of college students’ self-regulated learning ability and their root causes, based on the perspective of self-identity theory,we need to take measures to improve college students’ self-regulated learning ability from the following aspects: first,to create a good atmosphere of self-regulated learning and enhance college students’ ontological security;second,to strengthen college entrance education and promote the perfection of college students’ self-identity;third,to improve college professional education and enhance college students’ professional identity level;fourth,to take students as the main body and strengthen the cultivation of college students’ self-cognition.
