Informational picture books are of great value for the growth and development of children,Chinese children’s informational picture books have also achieved development.However,compared with the imported version of informational picture books,there is still a large room for development in the quantity and quality of Chinese children’s informational picture books,and a dilemma with low recognition of picture books..In order to promote the development of Chinese children’s informational picture books,this study takes a total of 75 children’s informational picture books from China,the United States,and Japan as the research object,and the methods of comparative study,text analysis and interview are adopted in this research.This study compares Chinese,American and Japanese children’s informational picture books to find out the similarities and differences between Chinese,American and Japanese children’s informational picture books,and the reasons behind,so as to further explore the advantages and shortcomings of Chinese children’s informational picture books and put forward corresponding suggestions,hoping to contribute to the development of Chinese children’s informational picture books.This study compares Chinese,American and Japanese children’s informational picture books from five aspects: scientific value orientation,scientific content,scientific content presentation strategy,text and pictures.This research found that there are some similarities and differences between Chinese,in terms of scientific value orientation,Chinese children’s informational picture books emphasize the acquisition of scientific knowledge,American children’s informational picture books focus on the mastery of scientific methods and the development of ability,while Japanese children’s informational picture books attach importance to the cultivation of scientific interests and attitudes;in terms of scientific content,they all covers a relatively rich scientific content,the creation of life informational picture books is highly valued,and the focus of informational content is different;in terms of informational content presentation strategies,presenting scientific content in narratives is the most commonly used strategy,Chinese and American children’s informational picture books focus on using the way of asking questions to elicit scientific content,while Japan pays attention to the use of illustrations to display scientific content;in terms of text,the text styles are different,but the text expressions are relatively simple and easy to understand,and they all attach importance to the special arrangement and design of words;in terms of pictures,the pictures are diverse and colorful,but the pictures of Chinese children’s informational picture books are more conservative and realistic,the pictures of American and Japanese children’s informational picture books are more novel and bold.Based on the above comparative research,the research found that Chinese children’s informational picture books have the following advantages: rich in scientific content,focusing on the promotion and popularization of scientific knowledge,and of high aesthetic value.At the same time,they also have the following disadvantages: the insufficient of interest and the neglect of science ability and scientific attitude as well as the weakening of pictures.The reasons for these problems lie in the disconnection between the idea of "child-orientation" and actions,creativity needs to be improved.The further development of children’s informational picture books in China should start from the following aspects: first of all,the creation of picture books should give play to the value of informational picture books to stimulate interest and cultivate ability,and effectively achieve child-oriented,further expand scientific content and realize the integration of science and art.Secondly,preschool teachers and parents should correctly understand and treat informational picture books,select informational picture books from the perspective of children,and use informational picture books rationally.Finally,it is necessary to strengthen the cultivation of picture book creators and promote the diversification of picture book creators. |
