At present,cultivating students’ core quality has become an inevitable trend of the development of worldwide education,which is crucial for improving the quality of talents and the core competitiveness of the country.Subject is a carrier to ensure that core accomplishment is implemented.And the concept of life is the symbol of the core accomplishment of biology,pointed by The Curriculum Standard of Biology for Senior High School(2020 Edition).It is found that the establishment of life concept needs to be based on big concepts and driven by scientific thinking and inquiry,which coincides with the 5E teaching model,a model including engagement,exploration,explanation,elaboration and evaluation.Specific situations that can cause students’ conceptual conflicts should be created to drive them to explore and expain.At the end,students can construct pre-scientific concepts into scientific concepts.Therefore,this study focuses on the structure and function view,which is at the top of life concept.By introducing the 5E teaching model into high school biology,students will form the structure and function view,the concept of life,and then the core accomplishment of biology.On the basis of clearing the related literatures,this reaserch investigated the teachers and students of Shihezi Senior High School by means of questionnaire and semi-structured interview to explore the situation and shortcomings.Then,according to the pre-test results,two classes with similar initial levels of structure and function view were selected as the experimental group and the control group.And 5E teaching model and conventional teaching model were used for their teaching respectively.The teaching content focuses on cell membrane,organelles,nucleus and ATP.After the practice,post-test paper and semi-structured interview were used to compare the existing level between the two classes and to explore the feasibility of on 5E teaching model.Then the verification questionnaire was distributed to the frontline teachers across the country to investigate whether the results were universal.Finally,according to the research results,the application strategies were proposed.The results show that: Ⅰ.On the whole,the effect of 5E teaching model on cultivating students’ views of structure and function is more significant.Ⅱ.The improvement is mainly in explaining complex situations(level 3)and screening false propaganda around(level 4).Ⅲ.The 5E teaching model has no obvious advantage in memorizing(level 1)and explaining simple situations(level 2).Ⅳ.5E teaching mode is helpful to increase students’ interest in biology.The results provide some reference value for educational researchers and teachers to cultivate students’ views on structure and function,and expect more scholars to further develop the 5E teaching model.
