Abstract/Summary:
Objective: Superior cross syndrome is an adverse symptom of muscle imbalance in the upper body.It describes an imbalance of key antagonistic muscles resulting in changes in the anterior position of the head and shoulder and associated spinal curve.Patients with upper cross syndrome will have neck and shoulder muscle imbalance, which will lead to anatomical and mechanical structural changes of cervical vertebra, thoracic vertebra and scapula, with head thru-forward,round shoulder, hunchback, and wing-like scapula in severe cases. Not only will the body posture be ugly, but also lead to motor function restriction of related parts, resulting in pain, and even affect the quality of life and physical and mental health.Contemporary college students not only study pressure, most of the day at the desk to study,is the upper cross syndrome prone population. In this study, subjects with upper cross syndrome were recruited from universities.By measuring and evaluating their cervical joint motion, static neck and shoulder posture and body posture, subjects were also surveyed by questionnaire to explore the intervention effects of autonomous stretching and muscle endurance training on female college students.Research methods: In this study, female college students in Jiangxi Normal University were selected as experimental subjects,46 female patients with upper cross syndrome were screened,23 were in the control group and 23 were in the exercise intervention group. As there was shedding in each group during the experiment, the subjects who participated in the experiment with complete test data were 20 in the control group and 17 in the exercise intervention group. The control group did not participate in any training, and was educated about the causes, adverse effects, prevention and correction of the upper cross syndrome, and issued a knowledge manual related to the upper cross syndrome. The exercise intervention group maintained independent stretching and muscle endurance training3 times a week for 6 weeks.Among them, the training content of the exercise intervention group in 1-3 weeks includes spontaneous stretching and unarmed muscle strength exercises, and the training content in 4-6 weeks includes spontaneous stretching plus elastic band resistance exercises. Before the experiment and after the experiment,VAS pain score questionnaire and cervical spine dysfunction questionnaire of subjects in the two groups were collected once each, and the data of subjects’ cephalic probing Angle, rounded shoulder Angle, cephalic probing distance and various indexes of cervical joint motion(flexion, extension, left flexion, right flexion, left rotation and right rotation)were detected, and the data were sorted and analyzed.Results:(1)Results of cervical joint range of motion: Compared with before the experiment, the extension, left flexion and right flexion indexes of the exercise intervention group were significantly improved after the experiment(P<0.01).The results of inter-group comparison showed that there were no significant differences in the indexes of cervical joint motion between the two groups before the experiment(P>0.05);After the experiment, the flexion index of the exercise intervention group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),the extension index was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01),the left flexion index was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01),the right flexion index was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).(2)Results of static neck and shoulder posture index: compared with before the experiment, the head probing Angle of the exercise intervention group was significantly decreased(P<0.01),the head probing distance was significantly shortened(P<0.01),and the round shoulder Angle was significantly reduced(P<0.01).The results of inter-group comparison showed that before the experiment, there were no significant differences in static neck and shoulder posture between the two groups; After the end of the experiment, the head probing Angle of the exercise intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),the round shoulder angle was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).(3)VAS pain score and cervical spine dysfunction score results: Compared with before the experiment, the cervical spine dysfunction score in the exercise intervention group was significantly reduced(P<0.05).Comparison between the two groups showed that before the experiment, there was no significant difference in VAS pain score and NDI cervical spine dysfunction score(P>0.05);After the experiment, there were no statistically significant differences in VAS pain score and NDI cervical spine dysfunction score between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)Spontaneous stretching and muscle endurance training can effectively improve the head-forward posture and round shoulder posture of patients with upper cross syndrome;(2)Spontaneous stretching and muscle endurance training can significantly improve cervical joint range of motion and alleviate cervical spine dysfunction in patients with upper cross syndrome, and have a tendency to relieve the level of neck and shoulder pain in patients with upper cross syndrome;(3)Spontaneous stretching and muscle endurance training,as a simple and easy exercise therapy,is of great significance to the physical function recovery of college students with upper cross syndrome, and it is worth popularizing and applying in the prevention and rehabilitation of upper cross syndrome;...
