| Research travel is a comprehensive course that allows students to gain knowledge in practical environments,cultivate their observation,practice,research,and innovative thinking skills.Compared to traditional classroom teaching,research travel can change the teaching approach and help students acquire skills from various aspects,not just limited to subject knowledge.Therefore,research travel is an effective way to cultivate comprehensive talents and provide a solid foundation for achieving the educational goal of "cultivating moral character and educating people".The STEAM education concept is a comprehensive concept for cultivating talents based on solving practical problems in real situations,so this study will design a regional research travel case based on the STEAM education concept to promote the improvement of students’ geographical core literacy,practical ability,and innovative ability.Firstly,this study explores the domestic and foreign research status of the STEAM education philosophy through literature analysis,and deeply discusses the relationships and influences from the perspectives of Dewey’s "learning by doing" teaching theory,constructivist learning theory,and natural education theory.Secondly,an online questionnaire was distributed to students,teachers,and parents using the website "Wenjuanxing" to understand their views and practical application of research travel and STEAM education philosophy.Based on the results of the questionnaire,this study focuses on the goal setting,content selection,activity design,and evaluation design of research travel courses and systematically constructs a research travel case in the West Lake Scenic Area.The following conclusions were drawn:(1)According to the results of the questionnaire survey,teachers and parents have recognized the importance of cultivating students’ practical and innovative abilities.However,due to the limitations of traditional cultivation methods and the lack of new ideas guidance,there is still great room for improvement in the geographic practical and innovative abilities of current high school students.Therefore,conducting research travel has practical significance.(2)Due to the lack of time and organizational abilities during the implementation process of research travel,the difficulty of course implementation is high.However,the use of the STEAM philosophy can effectively enhance the comprehensiveness and practicality of course design,greatly improving the effectiveness of research travel.(3)Based on the resources of the Yuhuangshan Scenic Area and the unique regional value it holds,this study explores the West Lake Scenic Area’s regional characteristics and designs a research travel case aimed at improving students’ geographic comprehensive ability.(4)Based on the design of research goals,content,and activities,the STEAM philosophy is integrated into the evaluation of research travel courses,and both process evaluation and result evaluation scales are designed. |
