The "development and improvement of thinking" quality is regarded as one of the core qualities necessary for high school students in Chinese subject in the Standard of General High School Chinese Curriculum(2020),that is,students are required to develop intuition,image,logic and other thinking abilities in the process of Chinese learning.Most of the novels included in the high school Chinese textbooks compiled by the Ministry are classics of ancient,modern and Chinese and contain rich speculative content.Based on the requirements of "development and improvement of thinking",this paper studies the teaching of high school novels.This paper mainly carries out research from four parts.The first part mainly discusses the feasibility of cultivating students’ "thinking development and promotion" quality in high school fiction teaching.The relationship between the four Chinese core qualities and the connotation of "thinking development and promotion" qualities are expounded.The theoretical basis of cultivating students’ "thinking development and promotion" quality is analyzed.This paper summarizes the characteristics of high school novel teaching,the characteristics of textbook selection and the main types of thinking training,and analyzes the feasibility and necessity of high school novel teaching to train students’ "thinking development and promotion" quality.The second part is the investigation and analysis of the current situation of high school novel teaching.The survey was carried out mainly through questionnaire survey and classroom observation.It is found that the teaching method of high school fiction is single and the teaching process is formalized.The problem design is messy and uninspiring;Lack of thinking training,lack of autonomy;The evaluation method is simple and lacks pertinence;Not focusing on issues such as extended reading.The third part studies the teaching principles and strategies of thinking cultivation in high school fiction teaching.The teaching of high school novels should follow five teaching principles: taking classroom as the home field,problems as the main line,teachers as the leading,students as the main body,and seeking knowledge to promote thinking as the theme.This paper proposes an advanced novel teaching strategy based on situational teaching method,centered on problem teaching method and assisted by mind mapping method.The fourth part mainly focuses on teaching design and practice.It selects the two novels "Oh,Xiang Xue" and "Blessing" and the whole book "A Dream of Red Mansions" for teaching case design,teaching practice and reflection.
