The outcomes from resourceful studies conducted in Namibia,regarding the evil revealed of become customary that almost every adolescent has pride in consuming beer and abuse drugs and substances,this have become a huge cause for concern among Namibian youths especially those of school going age,this as well have created difficulties for their families and even the public at large.The consequences of persistent substances abuse are many: property destruction,deviant conduct,poor academic results,etc.The purpose of the study is to determine,explore,and assess the types of substances and or drugs that are abused by Senior Secondary School learners at Etosha Secondary School.Then after determine best practice intervention strategies to control substances/abuses among Senior Secondary School learners at Etosha Secondary School.The study sample for this study will be 60 participants who will be either being purposively or systematically selected from a target population of 80 participants.First,self-administered questionnaires will be administered on 60 learners on the same day in the school hall.All questionnaires will be filled in in silence under the watchful eye of the researcher.Questionnaire completion is expected to last 20-30 minutes.Interviews for teaching staff will be conducted in the boardroom of the schools.All interviewees will be allocated 15-20 minutes to answer the structured interview questions.Responses will be tape recorded for future transcription.The data presented the views of the respondents regarding perceptions of teachers and learners on the effects of drug & substance abuse on senior secondary school learners at Etosha Secondary School of Oshikoto Region.The data analysis was done based on the four study objectives which helped come up with four themes;types of substances and or drugs that are abused,contributing factors to substance/drug abuse,effects of substance abuse and the intervention strategies that can be used to curb substance abuse,which the data analysis was done under those same five main themes/objectives.
