Home schooling is a supplementary placement form for special education in China at present,which guarantees the right to education of special children and adolescents who are indeed unable to attend school.It is of great practical significance for promoting the learning and growth of such special students.In recent years,various parts of the country have actively carried out home schooling work.Economically developed regions and national special education reform pilot zones have achieved good results in home schooling work.Hainan Province has also continued to promote home schooling work under the guidance of national policy documents,accumulating certain experience,but there are also many problems and development difficulties.Special education schools,as one of the main providers of home schooling services,have advantages in terms of teachers,equipment,resources,and other aspects when providing home schooling services for severely disabled children who are indeed unable to attend school.They have a positive role in promoting the development of home schooling work.Hainan Special Education Schools have also played an important role in the province’s home schooling work.Therefore,strengthening the research on the current situation of home schooling work in special education schools in Hainan Province is of great significance and value for enriching regional research on home schooling in China.On the basis of sorting out and drawing on relevant research,this study selected 13 special education schools in Hainan Province that undertake the task of home schooling as the research object,and takes the home schooling’ teachers of special education schools and parents of students receiving home schooling as the survey objects.By means of interviews,questionnaires and other methods,we investigated the status quo of the teaching staff,teaching objects,intensity and content,effect and evaluation,and service guarantee,and supplemented relevant information through seminars,We Chat groups,school official account and other channels.This article introduces the current situation of home schooling work in special education schools in Hainan Province,deeply analyzes the existing difficulties and challenges,and proposes corresponding solutions based on this,aiming to provide reference for the development of home schooling work in Hainan Province.Research has found that special education schools in Hainan Province actively promote the exploration of home schooling,and have achieved certain results at present: “the composition of the teaching staff is becoming increasingly reasonable”;“the status of students as the main body is valued”;“gradually enriching the content of home schooling”;“gradually highlighting regional characteristics”.However,currently there are still many difficulties and challenges in terms of the teaching staff,teaching targets,intensity and content,effectiveness and evaluation,and service guarantee.Therefore,based on the existing problems,this study proposes the following five suggestions: optimize the teaching resources team and build a new model of home schooling teams;improve the evaluation standards for teaching placement and strengthen the linkage mechanism between home and school;reasonably allocate work tasks and optimize the home schooling content system;promote excellent work experience in home schooling and demonstrate the role of quality evaluation;improve the service guarantee system and effectively ensure the implementation of home schooling work.
