With the development of artificial intelligence technology and the acceleration of the process of educational informationisation,blended teaching has become the core trend of the current teaching reform in Chinese universities.Blended learning is a teaching mode that integrates classroom teaching and web-based online teaching to improve student learning and teacher effectiveness.This approach to teaching has been widely studied by academics in the education sector and has yielded good feedback in practice.With the continuous innovation of teaching methods,the traditional teaching class to a certain extent cannot meet the needs of teachers teaching at this stage of higher education.Students’ needs for knowledge are constantly changing with innovations in teaching methods,and students’ independent learning skills need to be continually strengthened along with them.To maximise the benefits of blended learning and to enhance students’ independent learning,it is therefore necessary to choose the right classroom environment for teaching and learning.In recent years,the wisdom class has become a hot topic in the education sector as smart technology has been vigorously built and supported.Theoretically,within the wisdom class,teachers using advanced technology to manage the classroom can improve student learning outcomes.In this context,this study explores how a blended teaching mode based on the wisdom class can be designed with the aim of enhancing students’ self-directed learning.Firstly this paper analyzes the current situation of research on wisdom classroom,blended teaching and blended teaching mode based on wisdom classroom in recent years,and finds that at this stage,the form of wisdom classroom is greater than the content,the teaching tasks of blended teaching online and offline still need further clarification,and it is difficult to promote students’ independent learning in the teaching process.Secondly,the advantages of smart classrooms and blended learning models are analysed,and the feasibility of blended learning in smart classrooms is analysed.The design framework of the blended teaching model based on the smart classroom is then proposed.In the process of designing the framework,the characteristics of the smart classroom and blended teaching are analysed first,followed by an analysis of the current situation and needs of students’ blended learning,and finally the design principles are determined,and the teaching activities before,during and after the class are designed.Finally,the paper presents a practical validation of the teaching mode in the course "Educational Research Methods",in which a controlled experimental method,questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations are used to analyse the effectiveness of the application.Practice results show that the blended teaching mode based on smart classroom can effectively improve students’ independent learning effect and teachers’ teaching efficiency.This teaching mode helps students to better understand and grasp knowledge,and increases their interest and motivation to learn.It also helps teachers manage their classrooms better,increasing their effectiveness and improving the quality of teaching and learning.Therefore,this study has some significance for solving the teaching problems existing in the current traditional teaching process,improving the blended teaching mode and promoting innovation in classroom teaching in universities.
