The World Cup is one of the most important events in world football, and every country’s football team has the ultimate goal of winning the World Cup.Starting from September 2021,the Chinese men’s national football team competed in the 22 nd World Cup Asian Zone Round of 12 to reach the final stage of the World Cup in Qatar, but in the end,the Chinese team only achieved 1 win,3 draws and 7 defeats after ten rounds, and finally finished fifth in the group and lost the chance to qualify. The Japanese team in the same group performed well in this competition, finishing second in the group and successfully reaching the World Cup finals. This paper takes part of the technical and tactical indicators of the frontcourt attack in the 18 matches participated by the Chinese team and the Japanese team as the research object, analyzes the technical and tactical characteristics of the frontcourt attack of the Chinese team and the Japanese team through the research methods of literature method, video observation method, mathematical statistics method and logical analysis method, summarizes the advantages and shortcomings of the Chinese men’s football team in the frontcourt attack, and strives to provide a certain theoretical basis for the future training or competition of the Chinese team, hoping to contribute to the development of Chinese football. The following conclusions were drawn from the study:1 The Chinese team is relatively lacking in individual skills in this round of 12 competition, mainly reflected in the low accuracy of passing, which has the factors of poor skill of the players, but the main reason is that there are fewer people around the ball carrier, and they can only choose teammates in less ideal positions to pass the ball, resulting in the loss of the ball.2 The Chinese team has little local cooperation. The main reason is that there are few local receivers, and the non-ball person runs unreasonably, and it is impossible to form a breakthrough by playing more and less through local cooperation. The Japanese team often has multiple players close to the ball carrier,so that the passer has more options to play and can play multiple combinations. The overall offense did not exert its overall power. The Chinese team did not have a clear style of play in this game, and the number of attackers in the whole team was small, and it was difficult to break through the opponent’s defense through methods such as mid-wing transfer to create shooting opportunities. The Japanese team adopts an overall offensive play, and when attacking in the front court, you can often see all the players pressing into the opponent’s half, and most of the players have a high passing level and are good at threatening the opponent by shifting, creating conditions for the subsequent entry into the penalty area.3 Good performance in terms of shooting. On the premise that the whole team did not attack well, the cooperation was scarce, and the number of times they entered the opponent’s penalty area was small,9 goals were scored in this game, which shows that the Chinese team members still can score goals under difficult circumstances.4 China produces fewer threatening balls, especially those that can form shots at the end.The main reason is still the small number of people involved in the attack, and the inability to create space to play threatening passes with a small number of players up front.
