Research On The Characteristics Of Liverpool's Offensive Organization In The English Premier League From The Perspective Of Social Network Analysi

The English Premier League is one of the five major leagues in Europe and is affectionately known by fans as "the world’s number one league".The English Premier League occupies a pivotal position in the modern world soccer league landscape,which has been attracting worldwide attention and is considered by the public to be one of the most exciting soccer events in the world.The purpose of this paper is to compare each index of social network analysis in 114 matches of Liverpool team in the 2019-2021 Premier League season through social network analysis,video recording method,literature review method and mathematical statistics method,and compare the difference of each index under different seasons and different regions of the team,and analyze the passing characteristics of Liverpool team in order to find the characteristics of Liverpool team’s organization and attack for our professional In order to find out the characteristics of Liverpool’s attacking organization and to provide ideas for the tactical strategy of China’s professional teams and guidance for training.In this paper,the passing data of all matches were organized into an adjacency matrix,and the adjacency matrix was imported into the social network analysis software for processing and analysis to measure the social network indicators at the overall,local area network and individual network levels of the team.The conclusion is as follows: From the perspective of the team’s overall level of organization and attack characteristics,the passing network of Liverpool team’s organization and attack has the characteristics of multiple consecutive sides,high density,high ball control rate and high passing success rate,with close and smooth passing connections between players and high accuracy.The players in front of the field have more routes to connect the sides and organize the attack in more different ways.The backline players are located in the core layer the most and are the core area for the team to organize the attack.In terms of the characteristics of the team’s local organization of attack,in the comparison between the midfield and backfield areas,the backfield has more obvious characteristics of the passing network and is the core area of the organization of attack;in the comparison between the midfield and frontfield areas,the midfield area has more dense passing network and more passes,through the core area of the organization of attack;in the comparison between the side areas,the left side area is the core area of the organization of attack.From the point of view of the team’s individual organization of attack characteristics,Liverpool team differs in the centrality of players in each area,with the defenders higher than the midfield higher than the front,with a higher influence on the core players of the network,but from the centrality index,the passing network does not rely on individual high-centric players to play individually,with outstanding individual passing ability and strong team overall.In the comparison of different zones,the centrality of organized attack is higher in the midfield zone compared with the backfield zone;the passing network index is higher in the midfield zone compared with the frontfield zone,and the centrality is also higher in the midfield zone.In the comparison of the same area player indicators,the No.4 center back Van Dyke,No.6midfielder Thiago and No.10 striker Mane are the core players of the organization of the attack in their respective areas.
