Air volleyball is a sport that is easy to pick up,has simple rules and low court requirements, and is suitable for people of all ages. For primary school students, air volleyball has multiple benefits, including physical fitness, developing teamwork, increasing self-confidence and competitive spirit, and developing a healthy lifestyle. However, there are currently more traditional training methods borrowed from volleyball in the after-school training of primary school students in air volleyball. This has a great impact on the promotion and development of air volleyball in children and young people, especially when students’ technical movements are at the stage of differentiation and generalisation, and it is difficult to attract students’ interest and motivate them to practice by repeating a single exercise, thus affecting the training effect.Based on this realistic problem, this paper proposes the concept of gamification practice for primary school students’ air volleyball after-school training, and uses documentary data, questionnaires and experimental methods to conduct mathematical statistics and analysis of experimental data using SPSS26.0.A total of 60 students were enrolled in the study, and the following conclusions were drawn from the assessment, statistics and analysis of the experimental and control groups through pre-and post-experimental mathematical statistics.1.There were significant differences in the agility, endurance, upper limb strength and fast moving ability of the students in the experimental group and the control group(p<0.05;p<0.05;p<0.01;p<0.01),indicating that game-based training has a significant effect on the physical quality of primary school students.2.There was a significant difference between the students in the experimental group and the control group in terms of self-pad and pad against the wall(p<0.05;p<0.05),indicating that the gamification training had a significant effect on the pad technique of primary school students.3.There was a significant difference between the motivation and interest of the experimental group and the control group(p<0.01;p<0.05),indicating that game-based training had a significant effect on the motivation and interest of primary school students. The results of the practical study prove that gamification is effective in improving physical fitness, basic skills and motivation and interest in primary school students, and can be used as a theoretical basis and practical experience for reference in future air volleyball training.
