In the era of new media,the image of a city constructed through both old and new media is the core element that sets a city apart from other cities.As a new first tier city,although Hefei has sufficient economic strength and industrial foundation compared to other first tier and new first tier cities,it still faces problems such as unclear positioning,small cultural influence,and narrow radiation in the construction of its urban image.Therefore,in today’s increasingly popular new media,especially social media and short videos,how to use these emerging media to shape a good image of Hefei city is of great significance for the further development of Hefei city.Through quantitative and qualitative research methods,this paper studies the top 260 short videos that are liked under the topic of "# Hefei" of Tiktok short video platform.In terms of coding,this study starts from the basic attributes,content attributes,and presentation forms of short videos,and uses the case study method to analyze and summarize the city image of Hefei presented in Tiktok short videos.The results show that in the short videos related to the city image of Hefei,the landscape image and economic image are well reflected,while the cultural image and citizen image are not reflected much in the relevant short videos.This paper also analyzes the spread of short videos related to the city image of Hefei,and summarizes the lack of exploration of the city symbol,lack of attention to the history of Tiktok in the construction of the city image of Hefei,the quality of short videos is mixed,and proposes to explore the city culture to create the city symbol of Hefei,review the history of Hefei to strengthen collective memory Collaborate with opinion leaders to implement high-quality content output strategies to improve the current challenges faced by the spread of Hefei’s urban image.This article also has certain shortcomings,such as limited sample selection during the quantitative research stage,resulting in a small sample size obtained;The reliability testing criteria are relatively simple,and there are still subjective factors that affect content analysis.In future research,the reliability of the study can be improved by expanding the sample size and adopting stricter reliability testing standards.In addition,we can further explore the shortcomings of the construction of the city image of Hefei in Tiktok short videos,and propose more specific and effective strategies.At the same time,similar research on different cities and platforms can also be considered in order to better understand the role of short videos in the construction of urban image.
